ok thanks. I will tell him it's better to make a box for both subs, with a lot of bracing. But it will be hard to move in and out of the car !!! So, it's up to him !!!

I am sure you would love the xcon 12" : so much bass for one driver ! I've never listened to an IA LI or a SA12, so, I can't compare. I just know the xcon is badass !!! I love it, and everybody in my town is scared when they make a listen : so much accuracy and so much power from the very LOW notes to 80 Hz. Friday night it was "jaws dropping time" !!! Nobody dare to say anything, but I could see no one was speaking when I played my system. It was like "OMG" for everybody. They all have monster spl setups though !!!

Icon and Q are in the same league : great sq, but great output too. It seems to be what you need, but the "high volume" point makes people think about the bl or other loud drivers for you ! It will be difficult to find a used Xcon, but that would be your best choice IMO. Xcon = best of both world !!!

You want to decide between a pair of sa12 and a pair of Icon? Or one Icon against a pair of sa 12 ? An Xcon is cheaper than a pair of Icon. You can keep your amp, and use this money for a good custom box. This would be better.

With 5% all around, you don't need to do the windshield. People in front of you can't see nothing with 5%. Maybe if you have an all black interior. 25 or 35 % is too light : people see you from every angle, but you still have solar protection. Remember that after 2 or 3 years, the tint can start to be lighter. Next year I will re-do my car with 5% for the back windows, and 10 to 15 % for the front windows, nothing, never, on the windshield( it's forbidden here).

Take your time before buying if you're not in a hurry. Look at the Sundown sa 12, I don't remember the price. We need to know the available room in your box, the box tuning. If you can build a box, try a single 15" : it could be cheaper than 2 12"s. Remember you did not give us any budget !!!

I'm curious ! How is it to drive this car now ? With all the wood, batts, amps and ...etc? It is a lot of weight added to this car. No upgrades on suspensions, brakes, engine ?

You'd better keep your Alpine, and work on another part of your system : get a good custom box first ! for example ! Why do you need rear speakers ? Like M5 told you : forget the Fatmat ! I've never use SDS, I've used Fatmat in my trunk : it smells so bad for about 2 weeks ! It was on the floor of the trunk, so I had no problem with the "sticking". I did my front doors and the second layer in the trunk with SecondSkin : I liked it a lot ! Good luck !

Hi all, A friend of mine has a 15" xcon DVC1 in a 3.7 cu ft box (32 Hz tuning, flared port)Look at my avatar : it's his box !! He uses 2 Sundown saz 1000 d amps strapped to run the sub. Now, he wants another xcon 15 and 1 more saz 1000 (he just bought mine ). Here is the question : What would you do ? Build another same box for the second xcon, or build a new box for 2 xcons ? He is the box builder, so there is no problem to build boxes. What are the pros and cons of your choices ? Thanks for your help !!! (He has room in the car, no backseats, he knows he has to upgrade the electrical system for more than 4000 watts !)

I'm not a box builder, but it seems that the hole for the sub is too far. It could be quite close to the opening of the port, not far away from the port. Take a look at the free enclosures designs as 20000watt told you !

one 12" ssa xcon would love this saz 1500 ! Try to get a good deal on the box, with Audibel, PTS, or Fishercustom., or do the box yourself. One Fi bl can make the deal too. The choice is yours. Look for one good 12" sub. ssa, Sundown, Fi, DC, Incrimminator audio,...

Ok, Sounds alright lol, Cheap but good Ive had a look at the amps you suggested, Looks wise, the Alpine PDX is great lol. Looks arnt everything though.. Which model of the Alpine PDX would you reccomend to power everything? (I presume we are talking 2 speakers (front) and one or two subs here), I take it the price will be more if I would get 2 front, 2 rear + sub? If so, again, which model would you recoomend? I understand that my question may be boring and nothing new to you guys, but its all way over my head lol. Thanks. With this budget, you could just buy a powerful and "cheap" 4 channels amplifier and a sub. You would use 2 channels for your front speakers and bridge the 2 other to run a sub. Look at the Cadence amps, or Alpine pdx, or Sundown. A 4 x 100 watts at 4 ohms amp should be enough. You need a component set for your front speakers. Which one have you listened to? What do you like? Don't forget shipping costs ! You're in NZ! Damn !

I don't know about the JL, but I had a 1000 watts Sundown amp and changed it for a Sundown 1500. The difference IS really audible. Same sub, same box, same car. It was loud with the saz 1000, but it's just louder now ! With the 1500 it's louder ealier !! Maybe it will not be the case for every car. I don't know. To the OP : get the Sundown only if you can sell the JL higher than the price of the Sundown !!! It's possible.
