The alternator "makes" the power, not the batteries. If you can find a serious HO alt for your car...get it ! You already have batteries, keep them until you have more money or until they die. I'd love to run a HO alt for my car, but I have a regulated system, I don't know if I can run a Mechman or a Singer HO alt easily.

Did you change the mids and highs amp or did you just add another smaller one ? What make you choose Ampere ? How do you like their amps, and speakers ?

You may be able to run 2 12" subs in this box. But a single 4" port won't be enough. Put some big pieces of wood inside the box first, and listen with your current subs. you could like it.

Hello Barbados ! Did you try to reset the head unit ? There must be a mini hole to reach with a needle to reset everything. Good luck from Martinique.

I received this little board today. I had to break the elevator door (no electricity) to reach the mailman downstairs ! But I got it ! I understand what this does : Exactly what I need. I can't see any wire : I guess you need to connect it to the minidsp using the power input. But where do I power that ? I need to know if this is a good thing for me. (And yess, I have turn on pop).

OK the mini dsp is in. I've played with it, and first I was disappointed. Then I changed one knob position on the amplifier, and all of a sudden the tweeters came alive : I had channels turned off with a switch. I'm very happy now. everything is clear, sound nice. I have a lot of work to do. I have never used a parametric eq in my life. I have never played with time alignement. So there is a lot of work to do.Gains were set again. I was afraid of loosing output : thanks M5, you gave me confident in this system. It's louder than I would have thought !!! The mini dsp is in the glove box, powered by usb. I need to try a "usb split" , because I need my usb devices to play my music. I hope I will be able to find one. Or I will need to power the dsp another way.

Seriously, I don't know if it's a good one ! As far as sub, if your budget is tight, get a good box and run one of your sub in it. You may like it enough, or change the sub later. The IA and the SA are good choices for sure.

Will you be able to fit this HO alt on this Mazda ? I drive a CX-5 and the alt is not working like I want ! It keeps my voltage at 12.5 v. How is yours on this Mazda 3 ? If you love the Xcon, recone it to a 10 or 12" . You can even fit a 15" in the hatch, maybe not the 3.2 ft3 box if you want to keep some cargo space.

I have a laptop. I will be able to play and test with everything. I don't think I'll try acoustic measurements, as I don't have any mic/software for that, and I'm far from a specialist here ! I'll let you know what I feel about the different results.

How are the ER18 on the bottom end? I really liked the CAs in my tahoe, but on occasion the lower end (approx. 80-150hz) got a little too warm sounding. Wondering if I was getting some cone edge resonations. I have nothing wrong to say about them ! I cross them lower than my previous mid. HPF is set at 70 Hz on my head unit. It was at 80 or 100 before. I know I can play without my sub and be happy with it ! I'm not trying to break any record with my system, I don't compete.

I was afraid to install them on the dash facing up, but it's the stock location, it fits, and I can tell you it's the first time I hear the tweeters so well. But for my T/A process, I think I need to measure the distance between me and the tweeters. So do I need to start from the windshield, or from the tweeters location ? I still have a lot to learn. I will install that dsp without T/A, first, and play with it after some readings.

Ok I have the plugin. I think I'm good with the inputs and outputs, the parametric eq,... Now I need to learn how to set the time alignement. I know it works with delay on the speakers, but I don't know what to mesure in the car. I will look into the minidsp manual, but I would like some tips. I think it asks me, for both sides, a mesurement for the mid and one for the tweeter. I have one problem : the tweeters are in the dash, firing on the windshield : how do I do ? Where to measure ? Another question regarding the power source : can I split the USB coming from the head unit, to keep one USB input and the second to power the minidsp ? Will I loose something : weak signal, weak power source ? I will install everything in the car by the end of the week, with my smal IA 3.4 in 4 channel mode. Thanks for your help.
