  1. Hello guys, I am still waiting for my amp kit and my dash kit for the head unit. But I'm thinking about my future install. I' will run a Pioneer x5600bt and 2 IA amps : a 3.4 on my focal KP 165 and a 20.1 on my 15" zcon sub. I'd like to try an active setup this time. Do you think it is worth trying with my current mids and tweeters ? I know I would need a processor to do so. As I don't want to break the bank, I'll look into the mini dsp you all talk about. My installer will build solid baffles for the speakers, and the tweeters will sit next to the mids. There is no stock place for the tweeters. I am planning to buy some products from sounddeadenershowdown.com later. Thanks for your advices.
  2. If you're on a "regular" budget, you may not need so much batteries and a HO alt. That is a lot of money. A single 18" ? why not ? Trailblazers have huge cargo area, you could do whatever you want. You're coming from 2 12"s on 750 watts, so 1500-2000 w on a serious 18" would be a big improvement. Keep searching ! Good luck ! BTW : I love my single 15" Zcon ;-)
  3. You're on the right forum to find those info. but it 's better to tell what size sub you have :-)
  4. There will be enough room between the back and the port. I wanted to know if there was a maximum : can the port be "far" from the back with no issue ? Port standing or laying down ? Is there any benefit from one choice or the other ?
  5. Hi guys, I drive an SUV for the first time, with enough of trunk space (for the first time of my life) ! It's a Mazda CX-5 (2.2 l diesel with 150 hp) : I love it hopefully :-) :-) I will use my Zcon 15" on an IA20.1 amplifier. I think I'll do sub up. But how to put the port ? Port up or port to the rear ? How much room is necessary between the port and the rear hatch ? Is there a maximum ? If I put it firing back, what would be good and why ? Port standing on a side of the back panel of the box, or laying down on all the width ? I see both scenarii for SUV generally. I'll take some mesurements later. I think I can easily run my sub in a 4ft3 net enclosure, in this car.
  6. Ok thanks ! I'll probably get a Pioneer 8600 bt then ! 600 € to find :-(
  7. I have the Mazda now ! I have parking radar display on the head unit screen. Do you think I can get the same info with a double DIN Pioneer head unit ? I have the Pioneer gear to keep all factory steering wheel fonctions.
  8. More pics : As it sits now, or from the buld log. I'm just curious, and I love all those amps ;-) I don't mind db scores or videos. I'm not into spl or into door or car flex ! I like the well done works, and if it plays like you want, it's perfect !
  9. Faced up, you have only 47cm for a 46cm sub. It's tight. Can you go bigger ? In a Polo VW you want sub and port up for an 18" sub. Port in the back would be very close to the hatch. Good luck fitting such a big box in that small car. With back seats out, it would be easier, with sub up and port rear firing. Show us some pics if you can, please.
  10. No need for satellite radio in my area, I don't need bluetooth. No integrated dash. The kit is cheap. It's not a matter of money. I already have a Pioneer h u that I can use, or sell with mu current car. I don't know what "processor" I can use with the factory head unit. I need one I could use if I ever decide to install an aftermarket deck later.
  11. Nice review. Makes me want to try one ! I like the look btw
  12. Hi guys, I'm about to get a brand new Mazda CX-5 : I already made a big payment on it, I need to sell my Toyota auris. This Mazda has no Bose option, nothing too fancy. Should I get an aftermarket head unit or keep the factory one. I will run my 2 amps on my speakers : one IA 20.1 and a 3.4 1) I can use my current Pioneer 9300 sd, and still have my steering wheel control, with an additionnal Pioneer or a PAC module. It seems easy. 2) I can keep the factory head unit and add a processor or a line driver, whatever, to run my both amplifiers. What would you do ? I don't need bluetooth, I don't know yet for any rear camera, but I may need it later. It will be my first SUV, I don't know what I will need. If you have any tip for this car, let me know please !
  13. That looks more like a budget for a single pair of speakers : a serious set. You can choose the BOSE route : easy, you'll love it. But there is better out there. You can also buy a pair of speakers and a single subwoofer (no need to run 15" or 18" subs, unless your room is huuuuge). You'll get a second pair of speakers later. I don't know if you already have an A/V amplifier.
  14. Nice ! I don't see so often 6th order bandpass boxes. How does it sound ? Are you satisfied with it ? what do you have for mids & highs ?
  15. Can you just use the amp you already have, and step your budget up for the speakers, and sound deadener if needed ? You will find a good deal on an amp later. It is hard to tell you what to buy. Go listen to what you can, in shops, in friends cars, and tell us what you liked or disliked. Then people will be able to help you . I like Focal sets, but they can be expensive. I'd like to listen to the JBL GTI 608 sets : I found one set for $209 recently on eBay, but I don't need one, so I did not get it. I'm sure they can be loud, and sound good. But who can say he will like those, without listening ? They were much more expensive when they were new on the market.
  16. You have great ideas. I'm tuned in. I might want to try those products. the "dsp" can be a nice plus to my system. I'm waiting for the speakers too ;-)
  17. With a box tuned low like that, he is obviously not chasing numbers I did the same score with a 12" btl n2 on 1500 w ! But who cares, if it sounds good to you ?!! I'd like to listen to some Ethos.... Enjoy your setup, play music and have fun. You will be louder in the future, for sure ! (if you want so).
  18. I received a big amp from Fedex, and I realized the box was wet when I got it. Fedex told me to fill a claim immediately, and they took pictures of the package. (I received the amplifier at their office). Hopefully the amp was not wet, only the packaging, so everything worked fine. I did not fill no claim. How can you blame SSA for a shipping issue ? Isn't it UPS problem ? There is something or someone wrong somewhere !
  19. The JBL is huge ! But the ZEDs are so sweet :-) Can you post more pics please ?!
  20. Tuned in. We don't find those Hondas here, it looks nice. But that is a lot of work to fit a head unit. Congratulations ;-)
  21. Your car wil hate you, but you'll love it, I guess so !
  22. We have this sub in my country. It is veeery expensive here ! I listened to it in several boxes, some designed by Ram-Designs too. I've never liked it. It can move a lot of air, it can do big numbers, but I never found it musical. A friend of mine had 2 of them, each in a 5 or 6 ft3 box, at 35 Hz.. When he switched to 4 Fi BTL N2, his first reaction was : "wow, I can play music, now!!!". I guess you know how to run them. Good luck.
  23. Tuned in ! You made this truck look good. 2 18s would have been cool. But 4 ? That will be insane !!! That 3k5 seems so small in front of those 2 monster subs :-) :-)
  24. They say expensive equipments will not always be the best, but I'd rather pay for good quality products...when I can.
  25. About 1.5 month for my Zcon : I live in a foreign country, with 10 shipping days. So you should not wait too long. My order was made during sales, so it was longer as usual. Don't even try to send emails, just wait. It's hard, but worth it !
