  1. 2400 w : the Zcon will like that It can be a lot for an Xcon, but it would work. You don't have to use all the power you have...if the amp can make all that power ;-) I wonder why you want to use so much 4" ports ? do you have them already, or do you plan to use pvc tubes ? I like round ports, they can be adjust easily. but slot ports can be nice too, if the design is good. good luck.
  2. Do you have a sub in this car ? If so, you could forget the rear speakers and buy a good set of component speakers with some deadener for your front doors. This amp will be very good for a set of comps.
  3. He said $1100 for subs. What is the total budget ? Because you will need some good money to run a 5500 w amplifier : several agm batteries, HO alt, lot of big wire,... As said previously, tell us about your previous setups. A 2000 watts amp with a good 15" or 18" sub is a loud setup for me, but not for everybody.
  4. White face and see-through back plate ! What else ?
  5. and welcome to this forum
  6. 250 is not bad at all for an alt ! Work with the Optimas if you hace them so cheap. Watch your voltage to see if you need more batteries. You're lucky to find HO alts for your car I know Mechman and Singer make good products. Mechman alts are available on the ssa store too : it's a very good sign !
  7. I recently bought a new system : a pair of bookshelf speakers, the Klipsch B20 and a powered sub (Jamo 360). Not the best on music, but it works good enough for me I run the Klipsch on my Marantz amp (SR 20 something, 10 or 15 yeras-old) and I use the rca out to run the amplified ported subwoofer (ported at 28 Hz according to the specs). I have a simple dvd player form LG, but it can read almost any disc, and it's usable with the the tv (LG 42") remote. As they stole the dvd remote with the old tv. I am very happy with this sytem. It sounds much much better than the Bose acoustimass 5 I had before. I bought the Bose used 10 years ago, and it still play. No 5.1 for me, I'm not into home cinema. My sound system plays music only. I bought a brandnew amplifier last year, while I was in Paris : a Cambridge Audio Azur 351. It has 4 HDMI inputs and one output (to the screen). The sound is marvellous. It's made for home cinema, but with an emphasis on the sound quality, for music pleasure ! Connected by hdmi : My Apple tv, the dvd/cd/player, the sat tv receiver, sometimes the mac 'because the apple tv does not work everytime !). Connected by rca : my NuForce DAC 1 only. I play from my mac via a usb device, using bluetooth to the DAC. It's one of my best purchase !
  8. I like it. Nice build. For a first time, it's a win !
  9. sub level at +6 on the Pioneer 88 : to have all the volts through the rca ! Then adjust the amp gain, with the max volume you choose on the h u. I use my Pioneer h u at 42 volume max (on 62). No bass boost, no equalizer settings (I keep it flat), no sound retreiver, nothing else ! Good luck.
  10. Nice idea for the spare tyre You never know. I saw an XP 3000 (XS Power) recently : it's big AND heavy as ...! The owner is more than happy with it.
  11. Don't expect too much out of a 10" ! But you should feel it, it should be loud enough to shake things in the car. Something is wrong. As someone said : are you sure the sub is not wired to 4 Ohms ? It could change the output a little bit ;-) I saw the trunk, and thought you could fit a 15" easily in. A 15" Xcon in 3 ft3 sounds good : I had one like that, and I was pleased with it. they shine in sealed boxes too: 3ft3 sealed gives you a big and clean sound. BTW don't forget you can recone the sub to any size (10, 12, 15, 18"), just in case. could be cheaper than getting a second one. Those Xcons can be very loud : don't think you should change for a more spl-oriented sub, this one has good potential to satisfy you. Good luck !
  12. 30 is low ! But you may like it. I like to tune around 33, 34. It gives me everything I want : good punch in the higher bass notes, and good lows too. I'm not listening to Decaf songs regularly, I'm more into reggae. BTW Xcons are fantastic subs. Nice choice.
  13. Thumper at it again ! Wow !! Tuned in for sure
  14. What a huge truck ! Nice to be able to fit a 15" in like that Tuned in. I love the wheels and the lift
  15. I love all the Fi subs I've listened to (bl 12, btl n2 12, btl n2 15). But, as an overseas customer, it was difficult to order from them. No problem, now. Thanks SSA for the bongo service ! Fedex : never had any issue. I won't lie to you : I work in the same building, and I know some of their employees for years, before they even worked there. BTW, their female employees are so cute, you can't imagine !!!! no need to go elsewhere, at all Fedex : 3-5 days I've tried UPS : a week l I've tried DHL : a week and more expensive. USPS : the cheapest, but 3-4 weeks For US deliveries, I don't know at all.
  16. I had an Icon 15" on 650 w in a sealed box : I loved it. Maybe you can try to use a round port : it can save you some space, and will be louder ;-)
  17. I like the idea of an 8" midbass speaker with a small full-range one. I need to try that. It seems way easier than a 3way system. Thanks for this topic Tuned in for more
  18. A single 15" sub will pleased you ! It will be able to play all you want (from 20 to 100 Hz). It can be super loud with 2000 watts. Just build the right enclosure. There are free designs on this forum. A good set of component speakers can do it for you, too. You may have to turn the bass down , if you want it to blend with the speakers !!! Looks like my own install : a single set of comps, and a 15" sub, 2 amps and 2 AGM batteries (one under the hood, and one in the rear). You don't need 00 ga wire. One run of 0 Ga, to the rear battery, From tehre, you go to both amps. Good luck.
  19. I won't blame the product or the brand. But how can you blow a speaker so fast ? I run a 2 x 225 w rms amp to my components, rated for 2 x 80 w rms. They're 8 years old, an had seen several amps : 2x100 (2 ch of a boston gt42), 2x160(on a sundown sax50.4) and the new IA 3.4 bridge. The speakers are still playing fine, and I have always use their original passive filters. I had a soldier problem on one of the filters, it would not want to stay in the original box, but it was fixed for free, by a friend, easily. You must do something wrong. Check everything again : settings, instal,..
  20. we'll I was using it on four sd neo pro's 10 that it handle it like a champ so I decided to do a final install rewiring and puff my error. I was so mad at my self. Hope you'll get through this. Thank you for letting me know about Mmats ! I ordered an hifi 4250 for a friend, recently : he loves it. big power in a small footprint : that is good for his small Clio !
  21. Thank you Sir I'm going to pay the huge fee for the v2 Still need to make some more money...
  22. Do you have one or two tweeters per door ?
  23. Alain : you're running Crescendo amps now ?
