Hi, I recently bought a 270 XP for a Golf tdi, direct from Mechman. It was for a friend of mine. He runs 2 big amps : an MTX te4000 and a Lanzar opti 4x250, with 4 Optima blue batts. The problem is the voltage : too high. It stays above 15v whatever he tries, giving him much problem with the car. After some electronic checkings, some error messages told him : too much voltage ! The alternator is internally regulated, so he can't just buy an external regulator. What can he do ? Now he had to disconnect the alt to drive safely, but he can't do that for too long. I think he is ok to send the alt back to Mechman because he can't do nothing with it. He is, of course, really disappointed. I forgot to say he had to do some welding on the alt because the "parts" holding it to the engine broke after a few minutes. He did not want to send the alt back to Mechman as they told him to do. Mechman would have sent him a new one. But we live far from the USA, so shipping is expensive. Can he have some help, pleeeaaase ?!

Ooh yes : L7 like big boxes ! In France they put them in huuuuge boxes, on 2000-2500 w rms!!! They have great spl scores, but the subs stink fast : all the competitors say that it's normal because all Kicker subs stink !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are mad !!!! I had one L7 recently, and I put it in a 3.1ft3 box (@ 33Hz) : was not bad, but way too small. I loved the L7 when a friend had one in a 5 ft3 sealed box IIRC. Talk to your customer : maybe he can accept to use a sealed box for both subs. Or a big ported box for only one. Good luck, and tell us what he choose.

You're going big with that system ! Too big for sure ! You can sell everything except the alt and start again. 1) 1 or 2 sets of mids in the front door and just one pair of tweeters. You will need a 4 channels amp, and a small 2 channels for the tweeters. 2) You want to go cheap on the amp ? Go with a Crescendo 3500 for example, or even a 2000. 3) On a single SSA Zcon 15" or on 2 SSA Xcon 12". Can you fire them forward, sealed from the trunk ? That would be nice : no rattles in the trunk at all, it gives you room for amps and batteries in the back. You need to read a lot more on this forum. Don't listen to ignorants !!! You are already in good hands here !!!

Lot of sets in the market ! If you can't listen to any, trust the good old brands like Alpine(r or x) or JBL. Can't really go wrong with them. I would personally do a ported box for the small sub, to get the most out if it. I don't know this sub though, I may be wrong !

How many mids & highs do you plan to use ? You want to change brand ? Why ? Use what you already have, or get better speakers !!! :-) I vote for 2 12s Xcon ! Honestly, I must admit the Icons are great subs. I had one 15" icon ported and I loved it. 2 of them should be enough, or even too much for your ears and for your car !!!!!!! Good luck OP.

If you already have a Sundown , get a second one for the look, at least !!! And don't forget D class amps are less hard on the electrical. But I know SPL D is big in Europe, and easily available .

I bought an amp like this JBL a few years ago for $300 (+ shipping IIRC). It was for a friend who could not find a second JBL bpx 300.4. He still uses those amps and loves them. But he had always loved JBL product (in pro audio AND in car audio). I'm happy to see we are not the only one to like this brand !!! All those mods wanting at least one...!

I thought they were talking about a Jr model, with less power handling. More suited for the average car audio enthousiasts ! It would have been a great move: bigger market than the 5000-7500 w subs would get.

Maybe the gain is set too high. If you're on a small budget, you can try to find a cheaper AGM battery : you have a lot of choice in the USA. But the XS batteries are very good. A friend of mine run 2 in his car, after running some Optima, or Vmax batts. He loves the XS, and doesn't want any other brand of batts ! Good luck !

Still no news from them @ onebadmonte : Tthey can run their business as they want. I agree with that, but I paid shipping and it is not cheap at all (I understand that, no problem). If they don't want to sell overseas, they should have told me that, there are other brands in the market, and I never had any problem with all the subs I've ordered through SSA (same factory ?). Desperately waiting !

If there is a problem, just send the money back and we'll buy something from the SSA store. At least I know they answer my emails quickly. Never had any issue with them.

I don't understand what is happening with my order ? People receive their subs after just one month. I know Shawn has some health issues, Fi is moving (or has moved),...etc It's the third order I make from Fi. But this one is the longest. Everything has been paid and cleared on 06/15/2012 with Paypal. I received some emails since, and the last ones were like "they are done, now it's packaging time", "Fedex told me the adress is not valid" !!! (sent another one !),... But still nothing. I know / think they did not took the money and went away with it. I helped a friend for this order, he trusted me on this one even when I told him it would be very long (a little more than 2 months long !). 4.5 months : WTF ? Do something, send them subs to me. It's just 2 BLs 12" I can do nothing more than a public thread on this forum. I don't want it to go too far, and I'm not ready (yet) to fill a claim. someone at Fi : I need help !!!!! I asked for a price on a BTL N2 15" for a friend who already has one. The box is ready, the money too. But no answer : as if they don't want to sell me anything more. I have always been respectful with all the companies I buy from, I pay right on time, but ...Fi is taking me for a fool. I can't say I won't buy from them again, because of the N2. I'm a first time customer and I want AA/Fi products for free ! How do I contact them ? Must be a teenager,...but not a smart one ! I remember you can drive at 16 in the USA, that's why there are so much young guns on the forums !!! Be strong, SSA, life is hard !

Don't change your sub now : this one can be very loud. you need to run it in a much bigger box (5 ft3 net). With 3ft3 you are on the smaller size. For the mid bass speakers : take a look at parts-express.com and at madisound.com they have a big choice of speakers, for every budget. Good luck.

Better to strap the amps at 2 Ohms. You will only need to adjust the settings on ONE amp, the master amp. It would be easier. I don't know if you would gain anything.

Who are you to pretend to sponsorship or team price ? A well known competitor, a returning customer (you bought a lot from which company?),...?? Business is business. What can you offer to any company to receive anything from them ? I've never eared any of those subs, but I do trust Sundown products. You need to read a lot more here, to get the good informations about those subs. Good luck !

We are starting to get mad Do something : "wrapped up" takes soooo long ? 2 weeks ? You must be joking. Like when you say months ago they were ready ? I have a friend with a btl N2 15", he loves it and want a second one. But I think I'll make him sell it and get 2 other 15"s. Fi is not serious with me. I know they have some issues, but I can see US buyers get their subs in 1 month. I want the 2 subs, or my money back (I'd rather get the subs, as you have the money working for 4 months).

Paid on 06/15/2012. I knew it would be long, as usual for me. I'm not in the USA. But ... All I can do is wait. And send an email from time to time.
