  1. 4 ft3 is a bit much for an Xcon sealed, don't you think ? But if you use your 500/1 it may be good ! Find more info, it's just my opinion. I had a 15" Xcon in a 3 ft3 sealed box, upfiring in the cargo area, and it sounded better than in a 3.5 ft3 ported box with sub up slot port up. With 4 ft3, you may easily add a port to the box. Easier if you're ok with (partly) internal port. enjoy your Xcon !
  2. Thanks TRP, I'm not the only one. I forgot I was reading about a monster sub, when I saw this monster ...avatar !!!
  3. first post : 30 Hz !
  4. You can't find an amp to test it ? Don't you have an amp for your mids ? Try it on the btl, at 4 ohms.
  5. Fi SSd is not available yet. That's why I did not put this option.
  6. Hi every body ! A friend of mine wants a 15" sub for his system. He has a DTI amp that pushes about 1200 watts rms at 1 Ohm. I think it's like a Boss amp ! So, numbers are not very accurate. He wanted a 1000 watts rms sub, but can go down to 600-700 rms. He wants it to be loud, not for breaking spl records, but not into SQ ! I showed him 3 available subs : Sundown SA 15, Kicker CVX, and Alpine type R. What do you think ? Any other choice ? Ooh ; budget is less than $300, $250 will be better. We have big shipping fees to add later. Waiting on you guys ! Thanks
  7. 15 years old and it's already your second truck ? Dam... You don't need driving license in Alabama ?!
  8. madisound.com for aero ports. You got the right formula for the cylinder volume ! You decide what net volume (without port and sub displacement) you want your sub in. then, you found what tuning you want and use an online calc (http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31) for example. that will give you the length of the port for the tuning you want (you choose the port width). Finally, you add net volume + port volume + sub volume = total volume. With this total volume you try to find dimensions that can fit in your car : you need 2 out of 3. L x depth x width = total volume. Be careful : external and internal dimensions are different(wood thickness). It's not so easy, that's why I buy my designs on line : eclectic design, ram designs,...and many more... It's super cheap, and it works fine ! good luck ! Nice truck. Congratulations !!!
  9. Nice scores ! those Zcons get loud !
  10. Those are the 1808 AS Aura woofers. They're very old, but used to sound good, very good, indeed !!! 95honda, do you think the recone kit you showed me can fit ? The screws are not the same quantity, and it's not cheap enough to just get one and try it. Thanks for the help, guys.
  11. Finally, here are the pics ! Not good quality ones, but you can see what it is. Next to a JBL woofer :
  12. I went from a 15" xcon to a 12" btl N2 , on the same amp (saz 1500) and I was not disappointed. first impression : "wow, how can that be so loud AND so low ?"!!! It was incredible. My box builder (who has 2 xcons 15") said that he wants 2 N2 in 15" immediately ! Somethong is wrong in your install. From a Havoc and double power : n o way you can be disappointed !
  13. Welcome. Forget the rear speakers and get a nicer set for the front ones with the total budget. You'll love it like that.
  14. I would not buy a new alternator. Buy your btl and a 1500 watts rms amp (the used Saz 1500 looks like a very good deal). Do the big 3, and let it play. You will need to check your voltage to see if electrical upgrades are needed. Get the btl fully loaded if you have the cash. It will leave you "room" to upgrade your amp later.
  15. I need to take a look at this link. A non expensive o'scope : that can be very useful.
  16. Happy birthday to you !
  17. Turn the gain down. Do the big 3. Your electrical seems good. I don't feel it's enough power to arm something in that car. But what do I know ?! Good luck.
  18. Q, Havoc or Xcon ? I would go Xcon. Not saying the others are not good. I had an Icon (was in the same category as the old Q) and I change for an Xcon on the same power : I loved the change !!! The bass was heavier, louder...
  19. tuned in 4 sho !
  20. I talk to the subs owner : it seems that it's what he's looking for ! I will show it this afternoon on my phone. You paid $750 : I think he paid twice that price back in the days!!! Less than $400 a recone kit : he's smiling since I called him this morning!!! He told me he needs 6 of them ! More details later. Big thanks to 95Honda, to the forum, and to NDMStang65 (I'm sure you can do something if it's not what we want !).
  21. or bad grounds, somewhere ? Don't know, just thinking !
  22. 95 I hope it's what my homeboy (!!) is looking for. Not cheap but I'm sure he will buy some if it fits. He needs several kits ! I will have the pics tomorrow. Thanks.
  23. Yes ! I did not remember their "name", but I think it's NRT something ! I will get the pics from my friend phone tomorrow afternoon, and I'll post them. I will ask parts express too!
  24. Look for external subsonic filters. It's cheap, small, and efficient for your sub. Maybe parts-express or madisound.com have some. Take a look there. It's too cheap to run a sealed box and loose output ! A 4 ch for sub and speakers is a good idea if you don't want big power.
  25. Welcome ! You have a nice car bro ! But with the babes I can't focus enough on the car ! They're HOT !
