Pods could actually hurt your midbass. You need to seal them into the doors and give them a solid mounting surface. A crappy 6.5 should be able to play down to 80hz pretty easily. Good luck on you pods, post up some pics for us to enjoy!

SPL woofers generally have a peaky response. Thats why they are so popular they get louder, but are not the most musical.

best to keep them in the same line but its all up to you since your buying the speakers You keep saying this and I disagree. OP go and listen to some speakers that sound good to you. You may not like a different Alpine in a different size from the same line or a different line fo rhtat matter. There is no reason to stay with one brand or one line from that brand. The worst thing you could do is go buy an alpine set without listening to them just to brand match. Thats crazy!

I used Ensolite foam I had left over from sealing my doors on the back side of the vents. It had no ill effects and it stopped that damn fart sound coming from the vents. It is worth it just to stop that!

5100's BE5-C153-H0 & BE5-D147-H0 I had them on my Z71 and they were excellent. Cost a little more, but worth every cent. I too am a fan! My brother put a 1.5" body lift on his truck and I have never been a fan of body lifts because of the gaps, but it really does look good on his since it's not a big lift. I am thinking hard about that one. I like the stuffed tire look, but it's not really functional. Another 1.5" would prolly change that. I will see after i do the shock and air bag's. If there is a flatter, more musical sub that gets louder then the xcons I want to hear my next subwoofers. Until that day comes, the xcons are fucking badass and I am very pleased with mine! They are insane on the lows!

I would port 2 10" dcons or up the $ a touch and go with icons in that space.
