4 4ohm in parallel would give you a 1 ohm load run anywhere from 1 to 4 on each channel.

Good luck on that Pioneer. I would love to have one myself, but out of my price point for a HU at the moment. What a nice HU it would be though. Not really many options for a 4 way active HU. Clarion for $1000 used and the Pioneer. Seems people dont really care about SQ anymore, just want navigation and a blue tick.

Sand it smooth as a babies ass. If you are going to paint, it will exaggerate every little flaw of you piece especially if you use a high gloss.
Lower the sub level or look into drivers with very high efficiency like pro audio.
Dont have to be an expert to use google search. Here are the Cliff's notes the HP and LP send signal to the appropriate drivers. a high-pass crossover will block low frequencies, a low-pass will block high frequencies
