Introducing the all new SSA Evil!
What size enclosures are these gonna want? Along the same lines as the others? I can barely fit 2 Xcon 18's if I'm really lucky. But if these would take a slightly smaller enclosure them a pair of 18" Evils might be the ticket. Maybe 12^3ft net is all I can get.

Xcon 10 4th order
that's the one that I'm not so happy with. It sounds good, but in the cab it's not loud. In the sleeper, it's loud as can be. I'll just try adding another sub and amp, and hope for the best I guess. Here's the design of the new one. it's a little less port area and volume, hopefully gonna try to get it to load a little more.

Xcon 10 4th order
here's what I've got for pics. I didn't take too many while building cause I don't have any kind of dust collection and I didn't want my camera getting dusty.

Xcon 10 4th order
I will try later. I've been doing all this from my phone and haven't been able to log in thru the IP Mobile app. There are many big trucks with systems in them. I've always had one in mine. Usually I don't have a problem getting it right, but then again usually I use the top bunk for my enclosure which gives the roof and the rest of the sleeper to load off of. I had to get rid of the top bunk to fit a 32" LCD tv in here so I only have a 38x14x23in crawl space under the bed to work with. Enclosure fires straight out into the cab. Thinking about my issue some, makes me think it's doing what it should, but there is zero cabin gain this way. I've tried many subs and enclosures in here with no luck. Tried a dd3512 on 1500 watts in a folded horn. Sounded good but didn't get loud. Then went to 2 dd3512's on a saz3500 in a 3^3ft with a 6" aero tuned to 35 subs front, port to the side. Now I'm with the xcon. First was 1.25 sealed. Now the 1.75 ported. Sub and port forward. This is only barely noticeably louder. The reason for asking for the 4th order, was that I feel like the cone and port are offsetting each other. A BP would eliminate the front wave and take cancellation out of the picture.

The12volt.com Then usually I compare the results I get there with the Torres calc. Occasionally BP6.

Xcon 10 4th order
Like? This one is right at 1.75^3ft net after sub and port dis. Port is 11.5x2 5/8, 40" long, tuning is around 30hz. New one I've been working in is 1.45^3ft net after port and sub dis. Tuned to 31ish. This is per sub. The overall enclosure is 34w, 21d, 13h. Sub on either side of a 3.5" port that splits at a 45 in the back.

Xcon 10 4th order
It's set around 25hz, maybe a bit higher. The bottoming out happens mostly on rap, when it dips a little lower. Jeezy, Lil Jon, bass mekanik, Kanye. On rock it's near perfect, no bottoming out, but I would like some more output. I will be ordering a 2nd 10, but I'd like to the enclosure figured out first. My next one was going to be 1.45, port is 11.5x1.75, 30" long.

Xcon 10 4th order
I'm just a hair over 30" of port area now with the 1.75 box. Sounds good, blends well, but it seems like its trying to unload when I turn it up to around 85%. Amp was set with dd-1 so there's no clipping or anything. To me it just feels like this enclosure doesn't have enough cone control.

Xcon 10 4th order
Not 13" total port. It would be about 19^2in. Didn't Marks first dual 18 xcon box have about 13-14" of port per cube?
-
Xcon 10 4th order
Thanks Aaron. What do think about the idea of going from 17" port per cube in a 1.75 cu ft and going down to 13" port area per cube in a 1.45 cu ft enclosure? Would that control the cone a little better?

i love my new xcons
So far, xcons have surpassed every sub I've ever owned also. Best sounding by far. Way better than w6's and with the Wiring options make them more real world acceptable. I see no reason more people aren't using these!

Xcon 10 4th order
Has anyone tried a xcon in a 4th order? I have 1 10 right now on a saz1500@ .5 in a 1.75^3ft tuned to 31hz with 31" port area. It's in a 18 wheeler and am having trouble getting it as loud as I'm sure it's capable of. I previously tried a 1.25 sealed and enclosures didn't make much of a difference. This vehicle previously had a difficult time due to cancellation. The space I have to work with is 13.5h, 37w, 23d. I was gonna try using a smaller enclosure and less port, maybe down to 13" per cube. I'm about to order a second 10 and another 1500 to get the cone area and power up. But I wanted to eliminate the canceling of the cone/port and try a 4th order with the port firing into the cabin. I don't have much experience with 4th orders though an was looking for help in the design. I love the sound of the xcons, even with the cancel it's getting, it blends perfectly with my 3 way active front stage. Any ideas?

!!! Sundown SA-8 v.2 PRE-ORDER !!!
How are these going to work in sealed enclosures?

XCON 10" Anyone?
Found it in the team section, thanks. Trying to see if I have room in my trailblazer ext for 4 18's on 4 saz2500's. Maybe.
-
XCON 10" Anyone?
I wish I could find the build when mark did the 2 xcons in the Santa fe. Thought they were 18's but I may be wrong.

XCON 10" Anyone?
Sweet. I've been looking for new subs. Tired of DD's. Hour product looks great. I can't wIt to hear them.
-
XCON 10" Anyone?
Which would be better on a saz3500 3 10" xcons or 2 12's? Both setups would be sealed. Actually I can get 1.23 per 12 if I do 3 12's. Would that be enough power per sub?

Amp for 2 xcons
Why can't the halfway point between sq and spl be """SQL"""? The term has been around for several decades, but there's the few of the naysayers that say it doesn't exist. Obviously it does. On a scale of 1-10, 1 being sq, 10 being spl, I want in the neighborhood of 3- 5, """SQL""". That is the compromise.

Amp for 2 xcons
The original question was which amp would be a better choice for 2 xcon 12's. The enclosure isn't in the picture yet. The build can't even really start till I get my 9515's sold first.

Amp for 2 xcons
Porting allows for a tuned response. Usually the higher the tuning it will get louder but be real peaky, lower can usually flatten out the response but not have as much output. That's why I want xcons cause they like lower tuning for the flatter response.

Amp for 2 xcons
I never said I would for sure be going ported, but who's to say that only sealed can be used to sound great and accurately reproduce a somewhat flat 30-60 hz?
-
Amp for 2 xcons
People act like there's only sq (sounds perfect but low on output) or spl (loud as can be but sounds like a**) with absolutely nothing in between. Can't we have both? Something that sounds great while getting loud? Wouldn't that be ""SQL""? Mark, would there be a reason to not go ported if I use the Zapco?
-
Amp for 2 xcons
I want it to sound good first, output second
-
Amp for 2 xcons
I'll try a few different enclosures before deciding on one. I like the sound of ported prefferably. I want tight and clean before boom as I listen to a wide range of music. As for front stage, this will be a 4 way setup. I didn't want to say ""SQL"" cause I know how some of you can be.
-
Amp for 2 xcons
When I said sq I didn't mean it would be strictly sq. I meant I just wanted it to sound as clean as can be. And sealed? No. I'm sure the xcons will sound great ported. As for the 4 ohms being easier on the electrical I meant that 2200 watts would have less draw (200? Amp) vs the 3500 (300+a).
