		wiring question

Change my wiring "explanation". Hope that's more understandable. Sub level can be max on sub, just make sure it's not bass boost. I have my loud function off, just another "boost" Don't like the DMM way of tuning, it's not as accurate as you think, with music being so dynamic. Start with SSF at max, lower to about 3-5 hz, below your tuning; play a note about 3 hz below tuning and turn it down until you start to hear, smell, or see stress from sub, then turn it up a little. (this is all in relation to where your gain is set as well.) It just takes practice and getting to know your subs and how they react in your box. Start slow and work your way up, you should be fine if you're not stressing your sub and you have the proper voltage to back up your power demands.

		wiring question

Hope that helps. As for the tone, I'm assuming you're doing that to set your gains with a DMM. I would suggest against that. What to do instead; start with everything flat on your deck, gains set to zero, SSF all the way up. Find a bass heavy song and with your volume at max what you turn it up to start to turn the gain up, and SSF down 'till you start to get the output you want. Keep adjusting to your desired output or until you start to see, hear, or smell stress from the sub. From there back off a bit and keep watch on voltage and the same stress as before. Suspension with loosen up and you may need to adjust to accomodate. That's just a quick overview, I may have missed something. Any questions just let me know.

		wiring question

Edit: Horrible explanation. Just wire all your + to a single terminal on the inside, and all your - to another terminal inside. Then send + and - from outside to amp.

		Subwoofer build process?

Actually unless there is stock at the warehouse they are made to order... That's why I said they usually keep stock. Never said they didn't ever get the subs hand built to order.

		Subwoofer build process?

Gotcha'. As far as putting the drivers together it's "pretty much" bolting the motor to the basket, glueing the soft parts on the frame and putting the dust cap on. Not all too much to see. Search around for "reconing" and you should get some picutures of putting soft parts on the basket of a sub.

		Subwoofer build process?

Where did you get that you sub is being built from "awaiting shipment"? SSA usually keeps a stock of subs to send out when purchased.

		Sealing off trunk from cabin

Should sound better all around. Little to no trunk rattle, and seats down will make a huge difference. I don't see any reason to do this with the seats staying up.

Pics of sub? I believe the first run was 1k. But even then it shouldn't really matter. As long as you're getting the output you want you should be good. Another 1 or 200 watts isn't going to change much.

No need to PM. You just have to be in, or have a parent in the army to become a member. Possibly a grandparent, i can't remember. That's why I said, "If you're able...".

		Very interesting component option.

Apparently they underestimate and/or lack any respect for the amount of research, testing, measuring and tuning we perform to maximize performance of our "contraptions". Sure, it's interesting. But I would hardly say I see much of anything to be impressed with. Appears to be nothing but marketing babble aimed at audiophiles with more money than knowledge. I'm nowhere near an expert but I'm even put off by that statement. Talking down the very industry they're working with.. Don't put down one person's system/equipment/set up choices just to make yours sound better.

		Ebay credit

I applied for the "pay later" option when i had no credit and was denied. May not have made enough money back then though. Interest rates are crazy most anywhere. My USAA credit card started at 9.9%. If you're able to get an account with them I would reccomend it.

Hope so! Need D2 to get down to 1 ohm. Yes, if running a single sub, you would want a D2. I'm getting 4, Mark Not a problem, just get 4 D2's then, they will wire down to 1ohm load with series/parallel wiring. Wire each sub in series to 4ohm, then parallel them all down to 1ohm. Exactly, that's why I said I hope the D2 coils get here before production so there isn't any longer wait for them

Do SSA subs need to be "broken in" ?

No "break in" needed. After a while of playing the suspension will loosen up and you will get more low end output. Nothing fancy there
