  2. When you say "fair" amount, is that like >5k? lol that's further down the line.
  3. I haven't chosen my new sub stage yet, right now i have a bl 15. i just want something new.
  4. Tubes? i want a box lol
  5. anything past 60 is crazy. i would be happy with high 40s, if i hit 50s (dont know how i would know, i need a meter..) that would be super sick.
  6. i was leaning towards that. just thought it would be fun to get all of them facing forward, bassahaulic had mentioned that it's loudest with subs forward, port back. even for daily. and who wouldn't want to take advice like that?
  7. I doubt i'll ever be competing, i just want some loud(er) beats!
  8. I'll def. check that out. just seems like it's going to be too high. but what do i know, they're the pros!
  9. Cows felt a monster coming haha When the camera is shaking/goes fuzzy while someone is holding it, you know it's loud in there
  10. i love my car! it's got it's flaws for sure, ill just let you guys think it's pristine Sefugi, you know me well. Either that or you can read sigs? haha Bassahulic, i am def. set on 4 12s. Just not what brand. Fcon looks nice. And i still have no idea how to get them all to face forward Thanks for all the comments!
  11. Recently i've decided to upgrade my front stage. I've thought about it for a year, but made the first move when my left speaker went out. When i bought the car a year and a half ago there were 4 speakers in the car. The front 2 5.25 were dead, beyond my understanding of why they were still in the car. The morning after i got the car home i took those out and put the rear 6.5s in the front doors. Still this didn't do much for the "music" they made. But i dealt with them 'till now. Within a few months i got a new HU, the JVC KD-s100. I'm happy with it, it has all the features i needed at the time, but i plan to upgrade that in the future with more crossover settings, if possible. With this i was able to hook my sub amp up and put the 15 in, luckily enough it fit in the back. It was built for a trunk, so it's not the best box for a trunk... oh well. Planned upgrades: Solid 4 channel amp: The summer before i even bought the CRX i came across several deals to do with this. First was a guy on here that sold me a 75.4 kicker amp, brand new. Then Jacob started a trade in program, so i turned in the kicker and gave some cash up for the 100.4 that's in my car now. Sundown FTW! Mids: My first plan was to get some MLi-65s from Mach 5 audio. But they were out of stock for do damn long (are they even stocked yet?) i started shopping for new mids. I wanted to do as little fab. work as possible, so i was stuck on 6.5s. After weeks of scrounging the internet for info on these i hit up a dealer on SSA and asked a few questions about them. The only thing holding me back was the price; there were nothing but positive reviews on these drivers, i figured they have to be worth the price. Tweets: after seeing what everyone else was running their carbons at (~2500hz) i figured i needed a tweet that could play pretty low, while being able to perform on 4 ohms, to keep things simple. I kept coming back to the Seas Prestige 27TFFNC/G (H1396) 1" Textile Dome Tweeter. https://www.madisound.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=45_229_324&products_id=1466 These can go all the way down to 2500khz! perfect! Misc: You can't upgrade your front stage without a little deadening, so i sent Don at http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi to see what needs to be done. I couldn't really do the "whole meal deal" because of funds, so i did what was really bare minimum. I ordered 14 CLD tiles and a roll of extruded butyl rope. Doors will stripped and stuck. On with some pics! Car and a stock door.
  12. Ok, i had the car running. sounded fine at 14.4V. turned the car to acc. i believe, and as the voltage dropped the noise came. This makes total sense to me considering if the amp receives too low of a voltage then it will start to distort the sound, AKA my static sound? Listening to the noise more closely the music also lessens with the lower voltage. I've never listened/owned a system with the front stage ran off an amp. I'm just not used to this, it's all new to me. i can check the run or accessory position after i get out of class, in a couple hours. HU should be fine, i didn't mess with that at all, just plugged a couple RCAs into it. Update: my car only has labeled 1, 2 and start. i was talking about position 1 => accessory, if this changes anything. Im pretty sure it's just from the amp not getting enough power.
  13. The OP asked for more of a SQ setup, "I selected a SA-8 as a Demo sub for my community. It happens that the majority have small cars, children, & want to save some trunk space shopping. also they listened to a wide genre not just rap. overall they want to hear nice sounding bass (quality more than output)... Can someone advised me ideas and experince using an SA-8 for SQ applications". So M5 posting about the quality of music they want is completely relevant, while your spl comments aren't, in this case.
  14. nope, i dont have one but idk how to plug mp3s directly to the amp. If i knew i could try, what would that prove, if it didnt have any static in the accessory position?
  15. installed them. plugged one in, the FIRST time unplugging it (was trying to figure out a noise problem) it broke, the plastic part surrounding the end metal pieces came off. Didn't really damage anything. i assume the glue just came undone. it still works fine. And they're ugly and dont match my other RCA, klarity. which is annoying to me. and that they said i would get something other than what i received.
  16. Yes, the civic. I have a stinger volt meter hooked up the the power and ground of my sub amp, which was reading mid to high 12s. But i can check that in more detail for you, and see if i notice any correlation. White noise like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IL4Qif1qT1M I would say it's more of bad radio freq. static (im listening to a CD) Ill try and get a recording for you tomorrow, hope that my camera can pick the sound up and what's happening.
  17. no, i dont like them. you could get them and then upgrade when the new klear come out, or get some from another company.
  18. Yeah, i got 2 of those. i really dont like them. I'm going to try and get new ones. But, yes, if you get that and the amp kit that i've linked you will need another RCA cable. That will work. LMK what they say when you call them tomorrow.. While you're at it just tell them what you're doing and they will let you know what you need as well. Could have just done that in the beginning lol Just for another reassurance factor
  19. Any different combo of RCAs plugged in didnt' change the static. Again, it's only when the car is off. If i turn the car on they sound fine, then if i turn the car from on to Acc. they sound fine for a couple min. then fade back to static. Any ideas?
  20. If you're going to get THIS kit you're going to need another RCA anyways, you know this though
  21. OH! heads up before you order. if they are advertising the klarity RCAs, you wont get them. make sure they have changed the add to show you're going to be getting eKo RCAs. That happened to me when i ordered the 4 gauge 4 channel kit from them. they said the klarity kables are being remade for 2011. This may have changed, if it has so quick im going to be pissed and give them a call...
  22. demand > supply makes it hard to keep stock. That's a good thing!
  23. ahh, i was doing that last night, i dont know if it changed much, ill try that now. It is def. only when the car is off.
  24. They are in there permanently, i wanted them to be. I had no intentions to take them out, but i can do it if needed. I've got a sub output, front and rear. rear to channel 1 and 3? (mids) and front to 2 and 4(tweeters). I'm using 2 Knu Eko RCA cables for the 4 channel amp. M5, i am using the amp crossover settings. im not sure what you mean about the RCAs though. I turned the car on this morning and it sounded pretty decent, last night when i was messing with them the car was off. It seems to make a difference, I dont know what would make that change though..
  25. yeah, as stated, the Sundown Audio 100.4
