Sundown SA-8 Pre-Sale
all it takes is one coil out of phase or something along those lines and it will cause problems like this....

Sundown SA-8 Pre-Sale
Are you sure you got the coils and subs wired correctly???? take a 9v battery and make sure both of them move the same direction.... or at all..... you could have a coil out of phase

Hiphonics bxi 2610d Any good?
altoncustomtech replied to Typicaljawaiian's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / ElectricalI have a few Hifonics amps, all the '06 editions. I don't know if the '10 editions are any better, but I personally think you can save a few more $$$ and buy something better. You might look into Audiopipe if you're on a tight budget, lots of guys seem to have good luck with them. Patience is a good thing to practice though. If you can wait, you should save your money. That's just my 2 cents worth.

Thanks guys! Chop, those are custom built. The company I was working for had about 4 10+ foot lengths of 12" schedule 80 PVC they were just going to throw away!! I grabbed them up and found a use for them. Used the belled ends to install the subs in, used 3" aero port on the rear of the enclosure. Made them VERY light in comparison to MDF and therefore easy to remove which was the goal. They've held up real well and going to the new enclosure will a quite a change for us since neither me nor my wife will be removing it by ourselves once the subs are loaded in it. (She can't move it by herself now, lol)

help with deciding on dual 1's or dual 2's
I would suggest getting the dual 2's for a few reasons. First of all, .67 is quite close to .5 ohm which is fairly hard on an amplifier and requires a very reinforced electrical to run it. Second of all, music is dynamic and the impedance actually changes with the frequency that's played, continuously. It's NEVER the same impedance due to that AND heat which causes impedance rise in the first place. IMO unless you're doing this install to burp and get #'s on the TL you won't notice that much of a difference between the power output from 1.333 to .67, it will be easier on your amp and help it live longer, and easier on your electrical. I believe there's a topic on here on just that subject. Just my .02

IAK needs an "IHOP"
I think it's easy enough to say that for the proven performance and customer service, if you can swing the bills go for the Sundown....... Crescendo is new, yet to prove themselves (and I'm partial to underdogs) so it's a bit cheaper and a few early reviews mentions its a great amp......... So again.... if you can swing the $$$ for the sundown then go for it, if you need to save the green then try the Crescendo..... That's my best recommendation at this point....

Okay..... for some reason or another my installation of FireFox doesn't like the editor... I've tried to do this about 8 times now so at this point I unfortunately have got to skip some parts as my fingers are getting tired of typing it... lol THANK YOU GUYS FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE PART OF THE IAK FAMILY!!! Family is the foundation of the IAK Team and I can speak for all of us in my family that we're glad to now be a part of the family that is Team IAK and SSA as a whole. My family consists of my wife Karista, my daughter Summer (11), my sons Austin (9), Zachary (6), and Samuel (5), and my little brother Daniel (18) who moved in with us when my father passed away ~1.5 years ago. I have 2 vehicles now, the 1998 Chevy Venture van and the 2001 GMC Jimmy. The van has a Kenwood KDC-X991, Hifonics Atlas 6.5" Components on a Hifonics ZXi6006, 2-12" Hifonics Zeus subs on a BXi2006D is the old setup. Yet to be installed is an SAX-100.4 for the components and 2-12" Fi Q subs on an SAZ-2000D, as soon as I can get the enclosure and amp rack finished. The Jimmy has a Kenwood KDC-X492, Phoenix Gold RSD 6.5" Components and waiting to be installed is an SAX-125.2 and 3 Sundown SA-8's on an SAZ-1500D, that install is on hold until the van is completed (according to the wife since the van is hers). I have a few pics of the old setup in the van to post here. Picture of the components in the factory location, she wouldn't let me cut the door panel up and install them the right way with a little fiberglass. This is a picture of on of the Zeus subs in the tube, you can see the old Profile amps that used to be in the van. Here's a pic showing the current amps and the Brutus subs before she tossed their cookies for them. I'll definitely have build logs up for the van and the Jimmy when I get them completed. Thanks again guys for bringing me into the family. I'm looking forward to learning all I can and teaching what I can.

Component location problem
You'll want to experiment by moving the tweeters around the front of the car. Every speaker set is different, even from the same manufacturer. The same locations hardly ever work for one set from another. Give them some long speaker wires and use a bunch of velcro pads and stick them in different spots, with different aiming. ALSO be sure to try switching the phasing on the tweeters. You'd be surprised at how easy a fix that can be to a tweeter or two that's just too bright. I currently have everything in phase in the front of my Jimmy EXCEPT the passenger tweeter cuz it just screamed. Switched the polarity on it and not only was it not as bright but the sound stage lifted and shifted back to center and everything leveled out and sounded exactly like it should.

CONGRATULATIONS CHOP!!! I'm glad to hear things are starting to come around for ya! I got some good news too, 8's and 1500 finally in AND I have a weeks vaca next week so hopefully I can get some fab and installation work done on these damn vehicles. Okay fan, I'm sittin' in the same boat as you. All I can do right now is stare at their sexy little asses until I get a box built for them. Can't wait to see how yours turns out!!
