1awg firewall bushing, gromett? Where would i get one?
lol I use those all the time at work lol! they are great little guys! although in this case I would definitely use grommets as he is just passing the wire through Passing it through the fire wall is the ideal time to use them. The cable won't move once it's tight and grommets aren't waterproof. If you get the correct size grommet, it's a pain to pull the cable through without the grommet pulling out of the hole at some point. Now you have to get the damn thing back in or pull the cable out and start over. These are less than $3.00 at Menards and I'd gladly pay more than that for the lack of problems when using them. The hole still needs to be drilled anyway and it'll be alomst the same size either way. Why not use the strain relief? Good point. I guess I have always been lucky and never had to go through my firewall! Get what this guy suggests for a PAIN free life and install lol! Next time i have to go through my firewall I will most likely being using these also, mostly because Cobra brings up a good point and I have them readily available at my disposal!

okay so you get a 1/0 gromet and you toss 1 awg though it lol bigger gromet never hurt so are you able to drill out the 8awg hole with a bigger drill bit? or no>? have you considered running it under the truck?

well here is a gromet to use http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=SB0 how do you get the gromet into the hole... use the correct drill for starters. I don't know what to tell you other then drill out the 8awg and make it 1/0 awg. what are you having an issue with? correct drill size? drill sharpening?

Wire Comparisons
I had contacted DC for some wiring and I even offered to pay full price for it but they never got back to me. Then I looked a month ago on SSA store site and noticed it was for sale by the foot. but I don't think I will add just one brand. in regards to welding supply wiring I didn't check there specific brand but I checked a similar one. I expect they are the same as the one I checked was very different from the other brands I checked. The one I checked used like 20awg strands, while most other brands used 36awg wire, also the strands weren't in bundles and they were straight runs if that make sense. please note in this picture how it looks as this is the welding wire i checked. Notice how the strands are quite thick and not really in bundles (groups) and note in this picture this is how most of the other wires I checked looked! notice the bundles and the small strands that make up each bundle.

Help picking a battery
Hey guys my little brother is looking to purchase an extra battery for his setup. Here is what he has: 1-SAZ1000 2-SA12's at 1ohm Big 3 Decent 35-40ah starting battery, it has a green top so an interstate I beleive. his car is a 96 ford escort soon he will be adding a 2 channel amp to drive a pair of speakers or maybe a 4 channel we will wiat and see. The amp will be driving normal coaxial speakers! the amp might be a 125.2 or 50.4~ I was looking into a battery for him on the SSA store and these two caught my eye's http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/products/XS-Power-D975-12V-AGM-Battery%2C-Max-Amps-2100A-%252d-2000W-.html and http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/products/XS-Power-XP950-12v-AGM-Battery%2C-Max-Amps-950A.html to me the basicaly look like the same battery with similar rating just a different price and the XP (cheaper one) appears to be more geared towards an extra battery and not an starting battery. Is what I am thinking correct? Will this battery suit his needs? is there another battery I should look into. And no he doesn't plan to upgrade for about 3 years or so.

Is this really all you have to do to add a 2nd bat?
or your lights dim like a theater lol! and if they do some times the big 3 helps fix that!
-
Is this really all you have to do to add a 2nd bat?
after I did the big 3 I did a little test, first with the ground run and then without it then I also converted my ground run to a positive run! guess which test I stuck with? I stuck with the third test! So i initially started with the JUST a positive and negative run from front to back and my voltage held good I did suffer from lighting dimming though on a prolonged bass line on some songs. From there I did the big 3 and my dimming issue was fixed but I still had under 13-12 volts when playing heavy bass lines and what not Then I converted that ground to a positive run (added some fuses after words) and now I hold a great 13 + volts all day and I have no dimming at all! for the big 3 I did it all in 1/0 awg wire and I also did all 3 steps, battery grounds, alt grounds, engine grounds, and I even ran a bigger positive run from alt to battery. So a ground run could help depending on what is going on! heck just try it like I did and do as you see fit!

Can I Still Use This Battery?
glad to hear the seller is a nice guy and is willing to hook you up!

what... you are saying that adding the ground run give you a BIGGER voltage drop but you gained on output. output as in db's or output as in power? either or how did you measure this output? clamp meter, db meter?

Can I Still Use This Battery?
its a AGM battery is all I know and its made by alliance parts, part number A06-30097-011 or AE8A31 Also I didnt buy from a company I got it from a guy on another forum. so did you google this? and if so what did you learn about this battery? sealed or not ? point being that is the OP job to do and let us know, isn't there rules on this forum called noob posting guild, and don't those say something like do research and then ask based on what you find?

Can I Still Use This Battery?
Yes that is a pic of the top of the battery and it is indeed cracked. The crack is right below the negitive terminal post.I took the nut of the terminal so I could get a better pic. Also, thank you for the link Cablguy184.I emailed customer support about it. umm with a little more info now the picture is a bit more clear, it almost looks like the terminal was pushed in a bit. I wouldn't e-mail them I would just give them a call an go from there. good luck and let us know what you find out. also get intouch with the guy who sold it to you maybe there was should shipping damage and if this battery is done for get some shipping insurance for it. then again if it was shipped to you with the terminals in and the box was dropped or put not right side up the extra weight on that point of the terminal and crappy packaging could have led to damage! at any rate if the battery is damaged and you didn't know about it before buying I would file a claim with paypal and see about getting your cash back! either or if it is done for you deserve your coin back!
