  1. OK how does this sound? Box will be 33w x 20h x 20d speaker displacement is .26. I will tune to 33hz and 41 Hz using 6" diameter PVC. Tuning to 33hz will be 5.255 cubes and will use 2 6"s at 22.131 inches long each and the 41hz tuning will be 4.815 cubes and will use 3 6"s at 23.745 inches long each. does this sound alright? Anything i should do differently? Volume is after all displacements. Yes i know the ports will stick out the top of the box a bit, no biggie...BTW I'm doing sub up port up.
  2. lol im soo confused...im messing with this other calculator that gives me the displacements and everything all in one..i think my problem might be solved.
  3. no, the calculator asks me for the length and the diameter and then i punch those numbers in and it says total port volume and then it give me 111 inches cubed.
  4. no sorry about that i meant port area will be 111 cubic inches...and thats my thing it gave me cubic inches not square inches...

yea i knew it was somewhere around there. rediculous.
  6. OK, so I've decided to try out a box using round ports for my 18" nightshade, so i can make the ports interchangeable for comps and daily. I'm using a Hifonics Brutus 1600d amp. i figure the box should be about 5 cubes since the amp isn't that powerful and i want to get a lot of output. i want to use 2 6" diameter pieces of PVC. i am going to do some testing to figure out where my port should be tuned at for spl, but my question is that if i want to keep the box at 5 cubes how big should i make it to make sure its still 5 cubes after the displacement of the ports? i have been looking all night trying to figure this out. i found that if my box is 5 cubes i should use 2 6" x 23.6" to get the tuning to 33 Hz, but would putting the ports in the box change the tuning because it makes the volume smaller? also, i found that the square port area will be 111 cubic inches...is that too much? or too little? or just right? lol idk this round port tuning has me all confused. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanx.
  7. every install is different, there are soo many factors to take into consideration that u wont be able to use what anybody else has for reference.
  8. im sure they dont test every single one...do u know how many subwoofers they sell a day? make sure it is nothing else, like the box not well built, and make sure u have a tight seal all the way around the box and the sub itself. then if u didnt fix it, take the dust cap off and take a look and pics. post the pics on here, people will chime in if there is something that doesnt look right.
  9. well y is it like flat? i guess that is the term im looking for lol it doesnt look like the other subs dust cap.

  17. talk to shizzon about designing you a box
  18. the re calculator just uses the internet u could try that one.
  19. just like everybody has said, u really need to tell us what ur wanting ur system to do. u also need to figure in ur port area and bracing into those sizes...we cant really tell u anything from the dimensions u gave us.
  20. try winisd...it mite b for apple too.
  21. Agree with things people have posted before this, but just an fyi to you- a sub's power handling has absolutely nothing to do with its sound quality. Nor does a high number even mean it will get loud. Quoted for a reason. To add to it, I wish I had more people demo the Xcon in the sealed box I had it in with only 240 watts. It would have helped get rid of this perception that just because it is ratted for 1750, does not mean in the slightest that it needs it. Along the lines of having a 911 GT3, just because it can do 180+mph, does not mean you need to drive it that fast to still get insane performance. send me an xcon and i would run it sealed off of 240 watts lol.
  22. print screen. for some reason that doesnt work on my laptop...
  23. right??? us big guys need shirts too
