Welcome to the IHoP
If the W pedals it makes it so much easier to do. You get to check the "spent time with wife" and "did something healthy" box all in one. So many guys make their wives feel unwelcome in the activity. It's really a dumb idea. She has a Giant XTC NRS full suspension bike. I ordered some 1.25" slicks for it that'll take 95psi which should allow her to keep up somewhat okay. It should be comfortable with the flat bars and the saddle & bar height at the same level. Long term I am looking to build her a touring bike. Not because we will tour, but because for 30mi+ days they are about the most comfortable thing you could sit on and the time savings of minutes per hour on a racing bike isn't worth it. Been looking at old vintage steel frames and modern component groups on the web. I HATE aluminum frames, won't spend the dough on Ti for her, and don't see the value in Carbon. Steel is real and it is what we will both ride...that is until I have a custom made for me Actually there is a Lemond Poprad frameset in my size on CL locally I might pickup for myself as well. Sell the Mt. Bike and have a knobby road bike instead...or in addition. Who knows. You need to get with the times gramps! Aluminum and Carbon FTW! jk, but why don't you like aluminum. My bike is aluminum and couldn't see anything about it that would make me want steel. long term ownership. Unless I get into a wreck I don't see it being a problem... If I get in a wreck that bends the frame I think I'll more important things to worry about Ha, wrecks aren't the only thing that break frames. Shit before the Breezer I broke pretty much everyone I ever owned except the Kuwahara but that got ripped off too fast. <--has never seen a lugged aluminum bike, hmm

My bike is aluminum and couldn't see anything about it that would make me want steel. The ONLY reason Aluminum bikes are made is to cheaply make something light. Harsh, harsh, harsh. Add to that they fatigue. Carbon is fine as long as you don't hit it with anything. Steel rides the best, is the most forgiving, is easy to fix, and the efficiency gain from stiffening up the bottom bracket doesn't buy you anything. Nor does being 2lbs lighter. If you were racing and for big money, sure, but for riding no way no how. I could care less if I average 0.005mph faster. I rode the 2.3 and hated it, the Carbon Madone was nice though. Both were WAY better than the CAAD 9 though. It didn't make it easy to find a bike when I only was interested in steel.

Did you average 17 or just on the flats?

Oh, don't get me wrong. That 2" dome is nice. Zaph wouldn't have used it in the ZDT's if it wasn't. It may even be a great match for someone in a car, but not someone with output in mind. Unless it is just used as a tweeter that digs, but then I'd rather buy a tweeter that digs.

Same rules apply as to any other driver. As high as possible, as equal distant as possible (now multiple drivers) with the one caveat being as vertical as possible. Just like with anything else in a car there are compromises though and depending on your goals you can choose which ones to have.

After you hit 50, sure.

Man with a plan. I think I'm going to get a fixed back over built off road bike and just get slick tires for road going. It will probably see 80% roads, but I know if I start pedaling again I'm going to want to throw it off something stupid. I know myself. No room in my budget for 2 bikes either. Cyclocross style bikes are your friend. At your size I'd look for steel and not aluminum though. Almost wish that is what I had bought, but if I keep putting on the miles I can easily rationalize multiple bikes. Plus I have a nice retro-Breezer Mountain Bike that should be worth nearly what I paid for it 17 years ago.

Vertical & the 2" dome has a really hard time playing low. I am also personally biased against dome midranges. The dome will also have a really hard time having short center to center distances...

A 3" driver won't be loud enough if any of your old goals exist. An array of 4-5 2" inchers might though.

They are cheep. I would have one if I could fit in one. Guess I really get the best of both worlds. I'm 6'1" 210 lbs. But with the seat adjusted I've fit into almost every car I've ever sat in, comfortably. (not back seats). I'm tall enough that people call me tall but short enough not to worry about those kind of things. You'd fit, but you wouldn't be comfortable. Hell I fit, but have to sit back about 1/2 block from a stoplight otherwise I can't see it. I am all legs so you'd probably be somewhat in a similar position. 6'7" - 210lbs, 37" cycling inseam

Welcome to the IHoP
The first day back from Europe I rode 7mi and nearly puked. Tired as hell, sore as hell, and couldn't breath. Next day I rode 10mi and didn't sweat. Slightly different philosophy in peddling though. The second day I was exploring the safest way to bike to daycare to pick up Aidan which meant no real hurry and lots of turning. 3.7mi and only 1.5 blocks on a non-dead end street. I do have to cross Minnetonka Blvd, but it is at the corner where the elementary school is and has a crosswalk and stop sign Once it warms up a touch, I am going to try to do that regularly during the week.

While I love the Audi V8 and even more so love the idea of Turbo'ing it, I would never own an Audi Turbo from that era.

Miles gettign easier? I've been working the recumbant bike in my basement slowly. Knees are not fond of me movine again. Funny, it actually comes down to how hard I try to go fast. If I go at pace, I am fine. Bought a heart rate monitor, which I believe will make that choice easier.

I saw Tool play in a really small bar in Mpls, of course that was more than 15 years ago.

Nice vinyl work. Your patience is greater than mine Really going to rock and it looks like the time can be soon. Over priced generic MLV sold by Ant. Works just fine, but so does ANY MLV.

Not sure what you mean by "suck for midrange", not my experience but then again I am not sure what you are trying to say.

Sound quality mp3 player??
I'd bet you couldn't if I did the A/B. And sugar pills work too. Nope, headphones even. Hell real cans. When I did the test (on others) I used my AKG's which are extremely revealing. Even 192 eluded the audience, but hell in real world it is surprising how often the placebo's work.

Windows SPL meter software
well, dont think the pressure of my two 5.25"s is that high, so it maybe it could work (?) how much does a usb meter cost? Type 1 SLM's start around $900. Anything less is a joke. No such thing as a USB Meter.

Windows SPL meter software
The mic on your computer will puke somewhere around 110dB, maybe less, maybe more but not much in either direction. It is a cheap piece of junk (~0.05$) so it isn't like you can expect any accuracy out of it even if it could measure higher. Typically they roll off substantially below 100Hz and above 5kHz as well. So no way in hell.

Sound quality mp3 player??
I'm sorry, but WRONG. yes, they are both compressed. But there is a HUGE difference between lossy(mp3) and lossless formats such as flac. lossless formats compress without throwing tons of data out, they keep it, it is an exact replica of the source. Err, sort of. Large difference in what data is there yes, but most importantly there will be NO difference to your ears. Don't believe me? Easy test. Rip a well recorded song onto a disc in FLAC. Save it. Convert to 320kps. Convert the 320kps song to FLAC (note it will still whatever was lost before lost again). Have someone blindly A/B you both songs, or even easier just have them label them and try to pick which one is the mp3. I guarantee you won't be able to pick the one that is compressed. I've done this with some of my friends and they can't pick the 192's even.
