Sundown 100.4d vs. J.L. 300/4
Come on guys. Better and notable change are NOT valid descriptions of a difference. Those descriptions disregard power output which I am sure is what made you think there was a difference. If not it was a placebo effect. If you believe differently go prove Richard Clark wrong. Little represented fact. If you heard the exact same speakers back to back in a blind A/B test under the preface that someone told you they were different, when asked which you prefer you would always pick the ones that were playing louder. Obviously not if you were playing beyond the capabilities of the speaker, but that isn't the goal of my comment. The JL has a serious advantage in SOME installations all related to impedance, but that being said you aren't comparing apples to apples as a 75wx4 JL does not have the same output that a Sundown 100.4 will.

H/U and 3-way active
Lots of choices externally, but one of your wishes was touch screen control. The Alpine w505 is a great control unit for the H701. Question on your goals further. It seems to me that the 3 way is there so you can turn the subs either way down or off, but still have bass and not really for staging or other reproduction purposes. Is this the case?

How do you currently shut off the subs when the family is with you?

The only in dash solutions are Alpine or a touchscreen for a carpc. Other than that you will either need a separate controller, device, or to hook something up to a computer.

Did I promise my 880 to someone? I have no memory, but want to ask before I list it. Anything else that anyone wants that I have that goes in a car I am open. I found a use for the zx475ti. I am going to let my buddy who is building the Firebird use it. If he sells the car he buys something else to put it in and I get to monitor/do the install. Active front stage with drivers tbd. Sub probably a RF Pro 124 and some crap Kenwood he has. Going to be a peaky, high tuned box probably too, but I am not building for my wishes.

WITH TURBOZ! 500+ HP in a 3,000 lb. car ain't enough? a Boss 429 Mustang is probably in the 3800 lb range That's pretty heavy. My 68 Galaxy was a hair over 3800lbs with some gas, a big block, and stereo in it. *fixored

Still on my list to drive one of those. Just hasn't been one for sale where I was when I had time to do it. Reminds me I need to clean up the pickup so I can list that shit for sale. Goodbye GM Although if there were a Yukon SS I might be interested, I'd definitely prefer an SVT Expedition though but not enough to build my own. The chile turbo is just too damn expensive and the non-turbo can bite me.

Not for every purpose. When I was single, I MUCH preferred a 2 door car. There is a reason that most GT cars have two doors.

Anyone have experience with the RE XXX components?
They play music. Since you set your expectations low they might work for you. In all seriousness, giving us some information on what/why/where/how you are trying to accomplish would help a lot more. Otherwise you are just going to get a bunch of subjective responses based on peoples tastes that aren't yours. Since you asked for one of those, I'll give you mine. Negative.

It's the bee's knees. It's one of the best mixers for fruity drinks. SO much better than Capt. Better with coke, better on the rocks, and way better with fruit.

Gel coat should buff just like paint. You're screwed on the aluminum. Best you can do is clean with a mild acid to remove the oxidation, then polish and wax. No way to remove the pitting without filling. If it's really bad, you could use some bondo then paint it. Pitting isn't the biggest problem with the aluminum, it is covered with deposits. Regrettably it is an extrusion though so it isn't smooth. Polish and waxing won't be fun. Don't know what the deposits are, so I can't help you on removing them. Perhaps a power washer? The rest will apply though. Personally, I'd clean it, then paint it. Hell of a lot less elbow grease. Get some hammered metal Rustoleum. It dries to a very hard enamel and hides quite a bit of imperfections. I love the stuff. I did powerwash it first Not sure what it is either. I should probably dig around on some snowmobile forums as I am sure it is a combination of salt, mud, and water. Painting would be a bitch unless I really took it apart. I will some day when I need to replace the decking, but probably not this summer. Thanks for the advice.

I feel like inserting an AQ joke here as the only real positive you ever read about them is that they can take a shitload of power. Too bad they sound like ass and are crap when it comes to efficiency with it. Why do you care about power handling for a sub anyways? It will have nearly no effect on your output capabilities in comparison to what your install will do.

low notes send amp into protect
If that's true, then you shouldn't tune low, IMO. Exactly my point all along. Huge misconception on what lows are.

what mp should i run? 1500 kicker or the 1700 brutus at 2 ohms?
And yes, Maxxsonics sucks. They ruin every brand they buy

Wiring 8 subs?
You can mix as much series and parallel as you have coils to do it with. Not confusing, just basic algebra. Why not? If they are all in one car there can be a large benefit to running them all off of one amp and a lot of potential pitfalls for running them independently. I'd also put them all in the same box.
