Welcome to the IHoP
That is what happens when you are selling all your vehicles. you're only selling them as a pair though? I don't know about only...and it does depend on to who. ah yeah that is true And which one goes first. I really think as a pair they are sweet. Perfect for a loud active setup. Staggered power ftmfw.

Four Q's vs Four Bl's? What differences can you expect?
If 16cuft is net, you'll be fine. If it is gross, then you should really triple check your measurements before going any further. As for advantages of the BL, they will be way louder in the frequencies that you are looking for. *sorry for the assumption on the purchase, considering you are asking for four here and then look to buy two in another thread I wanted to make sure you didn't try to mix and match which was my point.

Anybody use spectrum?
Actually it, won't. I don't understand why you think it would. Completely different mechanism. Boo, seriously? You don't post for months and then come with this? It most definitely does not ABSORB noise which you seem to be implying and even as a blocker it isn't effective. It should be used for defeating structural resonance and changing damping, but a CLD is better for that. Its sole advantage is in the way that it is applied, but considering you don't need to cover that much of a panel even that is of dubious benefit. I never said anything is absorbed. Those are your words, not mine. Reduced, and absorbed might yield similar audible results in some cases, product to product, but we are talking about vibration reduction through conversion of energy. Spectrum is a viscoelastic damper which converts vibrations in to heat. Just like a a constraint layer damper does. Same principle applies. Since you have a degree in this field, I would expect you to know that the function of the foil is replaced a viscosity is increased passed the point of sheer force.. For example, if we take a CLD mat, like Damplifier Pro, and we remove the foil it will have nearly the same vibration damping power. Now, if we drop the temperature of the butyl to -40 f. then hardness/viscosity increases and the vibration damping results increase back up to a similar point compared to when the foil was applied. The viscoelastic coatings (around room temperature) can be compared to the frozen butyl adhesive without the foil, since the elastomeric value and the mooney hardness measurements are decently close. Thought the products may be different in composition and nature, the results they provide are the same reduction in vibrations through transfer of vibrational energy in to heat. Keep in mind to that the formulation for vinyl barriers is not all that different from acrylic coatings. Resins, plasticizers, mineral filler and 10 other chemicals and additives make each one different, but in the end it is mostly vinyl or acrylic resin, Calcium carbonate or barium sulfate and a few other things. If I increased the amount of plasticizer in Spectrum, and changed out the talc, mica and CC for more barytes, I could make my own non vinyl, acrylic mass loaded barrier. It might not be as flexile but it would be damned close. The weight and density could be easily matched as well. Use enough Spectrum in the wheel wells and you not only reduce the vibrations, but you also start working on airborne noise to a decent degree. Kind of like adding a MLV barrier without the decoupler. Not ideal, but it does work a lot better than loading up on CLD mats, which as you know is hardly worth the money that is required to get those results. The various types of mineral filler in Spectrum, aid a great deal in noise reduction. I stand by what I said earlier. Spectrum is a very powerful tool in when total noise reduction is the goal. Like every tool, it should be used within the realm of its limitations. ANT We weren't talking about resonant energy, but reducing road noise. Which you stated works which "implies" it is either a barrier or absorber which it is not an effective one. I realize it was my word, but by stating it will help in noise reduction that is exactly what you were saying. Stopping structure borne noise sources is not noise reduction, but an elimination of a source. The second statement I bolded of yours begs for more detail. It is an interesting claim and I'd like to understand why and how you claim that mat without the constraining has the same effect as with it. The last statement surely agrees with what I have said. Not a good absorber or barrier.

Alpine 9886 w/ pxa-h100 vs pioneer p800prs
Don't order Fatmat, save your money and get some goodies from Don at SDS. (link in my sig) Obviously running rears and SQ don't go together. As for the Focals, glad that you aren't planning to use them active Since you have the Alpine at the moment I'd just run it. When you start to do the active integration you could switch if necessary, but mounting locations and drivers would help lay that out better.

Four Q's vs Four Bl's? What differences can you expect?
Saw your note in this thread: 2 FI Audio q series dual 2 ohm 15's - SSA Car Audio Forum - Page 2 You CANNOT mix old and new Q's in an install. Plus AGAIN without knowing REALLY how much space you have NO ONE can recommend anything and have it be helpful.

Four Q's vs Four Bl's? What differences can you expect?
Yes I think you are guessing what your goals are and don't know. Definitely not a problem to start a thread, but instead of saying what you think you need, stating what your goals are and asking for help in choosing will get you a lot further. What happened was a bunch of people who don't know and haven't used either responded saying to use the Q since they think about "lows" the same way you do. The end result is that it "looks" logical based on the responses when in reality once you state your goals I'd bet money that the Q isn't the right solution for you. Just a hunch on my part now, but reading between the lines I severely doubt that my hunch is off.

Welcome to the IHoP
They are pretty. Makes me want to keep them, but I'd rather have two 450/4's as the 150wx2 would be more than enough for a sub for me and the rest could then power a 3 way front stage. They won't fit in my next car though if things go well so I should let them go. They have been great amps!

Well then it is absurd to recommend an enclosure for someone else so that their system can play said notes that don't exist. And now you know why I asked the question. This of course shouldn't have take 30 posts to achieve though.

Four Q's vs Four Bl's? What differences can you expect?
Holy crap there is some bad advice in this thread. There are VERY FEW songs that have 26-30Hz music. You reference "should be enough off 4kW". That statement alone tells me you are a BL buyer and not a Q buyer, misrepresenting the lows will only get you a sub that doesn't do what you want it to. And no one yet has asked how much space you have. That should be the FIRST thing anyone asks before answering any question about a sub. Generically speaking I'd take everything so far with a grain of salt, but DO NOT come to the conclusion the Q's are for your friend as it is definitely the wrong conclusion...unless you have left out some serious bit of information that I don't see shared so far. A quick re-read of the noob posting guidelines in my sig will surely help make your thread much better.

Alpine 9886 w/ pxa-h100 vs pioneer p800prs
I'd expect the ipod integration to be better on the Alpine, but don't take my opinion in that regard as gold considering I have no ipod and therefore have not spent time really using the control just peaking at it. As for what is better for active, that depends a bit on your goals and what you are comfortable with. Realistically they will both work more than fine. Knowing more about your install could potentially make me lean one way or the other but generically speaking they are both capable solutions. Personally I own an 880prs, but bought it for a particular design concern that you might not have.

Rule #2, stop editing your posts 15 minutes after typing them. If you can't proofread the first time through or quickly thereafter, don't post. Anton, sorry for the diversion but this needs to be called out so others don't follow the uninformed.

New rule for you. Never type an ellipse again, it forces your gibberish to be even harder to understand. So you have no idea how to use a termlab I see either. Another misquote. Or perhaps you'd like to share your magic brick wall filter that keeps them from playing anything above exactly 54Hz. Is it possible for you to post anything without lying?

You CAN'T hear notes that aren't there. Why do you keep avoiding answering the question? It was very simple. What instrument plays 25Hz (or lower) on the album YOU stated had them that YOU can hear.

Very attractive. I wanted the Onyx Xenon's bad, but could not grab them in time. sex! m5, how much are you asking for them? not that i could ever afford them lol The amps I think $750 for the pair. JL 1000/1 and 450/4 The headunit TBD.

Anton Personally I wouldn't do anything yet. Get in the BTL and then figure out what songs do what that you don't like. Then determine which frequencies those are and then ask for assistance in solving those anomalies. Wanting to adjust to adjust regularly (read almost always) makes things worse than they are. Exceptions there are tons, but eq'ing to eq is NOT a good answer. Eq'ing to make something better is
