  1. Please listen. Putting something right in the place of the old ones will always sound really crappy. You need to mount whatever you put on a baffle. Considering you need a baffle there is no need to use a 6x8, in fact 6x8's are a joke. Build a converting baffle to mount a 6.5, 9 times out of 10 it is a SUPER easy conversion. Just bolting something in will not be worth the monetary upgrade over stock.
  2. And you have experience with these? Perhaps in your backpack? well show me what you think will work please. i look alot but i have never heard nor seen any for my self. maybe someone can chime in about the comps..the only comp set that i've had was the alpine type x 5.25's. sounded decent but i know it's better out there. try looking toward cdt, pg, or boston. the last time i heard a boston comp set it sounded good to my ears but that was awhile ago and i don't know if they are still on top of their game. edit:forget cdt i forgot about the $300 budget If you can't name a decent comp set why do you think it would be better than say the CA18RNX I recommended? On top of that the X 5.25's would be terrible for the application, and the CDT's are way overpriced junk. While there is more hassle with an active setup, in his budget even with just the amp crossovers (which are FAR from ideal) the HDS/CA18 combination will compete with passive sets costing 5x as much. Your comments recommending otherwise are not based on any real experience

Didn't realize that was a Charger and I know you were making the opposite point. My comment was more on the lines. The older CTS dash doesn't look like a modern car, all hard edges. Even the door arm rests look like 1960.

Tachometer and oil pressure gauge weren't optional I'd have to agree with Jimbo, I'm currently driving the Camaro with only a speedometer it will have a tach, oil pressure, coolant temp, and working fuel gauge with the new engine though My old VW didn't even have a gas gauge. Just a speedo and an idiot light in the speedo. One gauge dash.

Thanks Ant. That was my first forum and surely used to be my favorite, but not for a while now.

Stop. Stop. Stop. If you try to sell one of these, I hope the person who buys it rips you off. Promoting being a menace is not acceptable.

  9. well, i personally think we could use a bit more music at school. but thats just me. yes, let's turn school into a party. I'm sure that'll get the US higher on those worldwide education ratings........ Ok, let's make it more boring and prison like so more kids drop out. At least then the good ones will stay in and make the system look good. Doesn't bother me, I need someone to shine my shoes as well. Toughen up, if you can't hack school and don't want to work at it get ready to have to work menial jobs for your soon to be Chinese boss. The world won't wait for you and the average American is QUICKLY falling behind the rest of the world. And now our economy is following along. For all you young ones, now is the time to choose. Do you want to work for peanuts, live in a small apartment, never have more spending money than you do now or potentially get an education and a job that will allow you to do all sorts of things with your time. That motivation kept me going from about 2nd grade on.

Striking similarities, but yours is metal and the CTS-V is teh plastic.

It was Japanese boring and the inside isn't as nice as the 91 M5. It just did nothing for me.
  13. As I just stated in my pm, I disagree as well. Not sure where you got this idea that ported enclosures have to be huge.
  14. If you want to run active and are putting in a screen up front, you should really do the H701 but yes you will need the 205/505. Time to make the choice, a nice active install or that headunit. Sure you could still buy a H701 and a RUX to control it, but that seems rather stupid considering you don't have the screen yet.

Actually just less cheap plastic would be fine.
  16. You should have started this thread before buying a Q, it that driver isn't loud enough for you then it isn't even close to the right selection for your needs.
  17. The race comment was out of line, no one supports F-150 on whatever the hell bs he was stating. He could have just called the lift ghetto and the lack of brakes. IMO with light as stock steelies that car didn't stop well enough. I just hope you don't drive in a spirited fashion. I just find it amusing that you went through all this effort and expense to try to make something look like it isn't. If you truly want to roll with big wheels you should do it right instead of just posing like someone who would.
  18. The imprint is a big joke. If you want an Alpine processor, get the H701.
  19. The Sundown can take care of what you need. Smaller depth mid = less midbass. They do make the CA18RLY for that purpose, but I'd try damn hard to fit in the RNX. There are smaller tweeters, but I was spending your budget If you have to go small, the Seas Neo is hard to beat when you are on a limited budget.

Many say the 500E handles better than the E55, but jeez they are almost the same money. I know the previous generation E55 without the supercharger is a lot more reliable and a better choice, but visually the car doesn't excite me. The 03+ completely makes me drool, inside and out. As for the AMG badge, it doesn't do anything for me either. I would actually probably de-badge the car as I surely "don't need no stinking badges" I drove the 335 (not the D) but nonetheless I am completely and utterly not interested. BM'er has taken a huge crap the past 5 years and just refuses to make anything that stirs the soul anymore. Boring on the inside and the out It hurts me to say it, but it is true. I'd actually rather have the Lexus ISF than the M3 and I will NOT own a Japanese car.

Thanks for the Congrats! It was definitely planned and occurred later than it was supposed to, but at least it happened! And hell, I like the practice anyways.
  22. With a rather simple mid like that you can get away with just the amp crossovers, although more processing capability never hurts. If you don't mine going large format, here is the tweeter I'd buy although the shipping puts you over budget: http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_i...roducts_id=1744 Peerless HDS

you must have. About 6 pages back. The w is with baby. Not far along though, and actually no one here knows yet other than my parents whom we told last night. Conception was about the day before I left for Asia.

E39 << E34 both in speed and handling. E60 can bite me as it adds ugly to the list. It really hurts me to say that too as I have been a bm'er fanatic for a really long time.

it was the only non specialty badged sedan that made my short list to drive. I really liked it. It wasn't on mine, but reading the performance stats of 0-60 in 6.3 changed that; however, the stats are read were bullshit. The thing is slow. More than fast enough for the w, but it isn't going to keep me happy. Not worth the $52k asking price.
