Then get a job tending bar. While in college working 20hrs a week, I still made well over $35k every year.

Keep telling yourself that. Unless I'm forced to work as an exterminator or a roofer or some other god awful job like that, Work >>>> School You should try a different school, bummer that your 4 years are working out that way when for most they are the best years of their life. Transfer now! School sucks. Period. Doesn't matter where. Works sucks period, doesn't matter where. Yup, but getting paid for working my ass off is a lot better than having to pay. But if you look at your net pay over the next 10 years without schooling versus with, you could easily make the argument that you are getting paid now although it is just into a savings account you get to spend later.
  3. For a $1g everyone else is dead nuts on 2.1 or even just 2 chn will be WAY better than a budget 5.1 setup. 6.1 & 7.1 are pretty useless (in a normal size room) and 5.1 is really only worthwhile if you are hardcore into movies and can actually budget for real gear. Even with a G I personally would go get a used receiver and used speakers as they will be far superior to what you can buy in any big box store and your budget is too small for boutique. Of course building your own would net the biggest bang for the buck, but that isn't trivial either.

Pretty much everyone I know that has experienced both agrees. The only disadvantage is the smaller check.

only thing I'll give 'em is good food everything else... yikes I'd even question the good food. They have some good food, but mostly they have more shit than anywhere else in the country as well.

Keep telling yourself that. No chit. I don't understand, but I guess the difference becomes clear when you have done both. they both have pros and cons to me. I got tired of doing work that I wasn't getting paid to do in school, and work I just didn't like to do in general (spanish, english papers, etc.). But you have fewer responsibilities in school, and the schedule is easier. Most people don't go to school from 8-5 like many jobs, your classes may not start till 9-10 and only last a few hours, or some days you may only have one class or something and get a bunch of free time. But the thing I like about working is that you have no homework. Once you go home you can forget about work and not have more work to do. No homework? I have never, ever had a job (since I stopped bartending) that didn't leave me with things to do after hours. And hell getting an advanced degree you get paid as well.

  12. Not quite how it works, in particular since the OP asked for a smooth response from 35-70hz...although I will add 70hz is WAY too high to cross a sub at.
  13. Punchier has nothing to do with size and everything to do with the enclosure, although depending on which CV's you have they may never give you what you want.
  14. I'd add a few bucks and step up a notch.
  15. You will lose significant midbass if you are using off the shelf components.
  16. Frustrating on the alt, I'd ask for more info to backup his claim as it sounds to me like slander; however, I will also add that I have never needed a big alt so I wouldn't really be the one to ask.

x2 - I would definitely recommend a Master's. The return for the investment is worth it in my opinion. A lot of schools hand out enough scholarships to cover tuition, research, and cost of living ... so two years of free eductation to bump your B to an M ... nevermind the chance to go on and snatch a PhD if you wishl. In particular for you Engineering types, you almost always get paid to goto school
  19. Simple answer, we all know that everything is in the enclosure and SPL enclosures are the opposite of SQ enclosures. Specifically one is meant to peak as high as possible and the other is meant to have absolutely no erroneous peaks. Considering this thread was only about subwoofers they are indeed polar opposites.
  20. I vote for the 15" Icon then
  21. How much space do you have?...that would surely help recommend things.
