how do i tune my JL 12W0???
Not to jump to conclusions, but it would probably be more beneficial to you if we gave you proper settings on Head Unit + the amplifier. Is that what you're asking? What settings can you manipulate with both your amp and head unit? I think that information would allow people to help you much better!

What sub would be perfect for me?
well... unfortunately you're going to have to do more power upgrades than a capacitor. High output alternator and a 2nd battery are strongly, strongly recommended. You will also need to do the big three (an instruction guide is in this forum under the Technical Info & How To section) unfortunately the items i listed above aren't cheap often. It may be in your best interest to try a lower wattage system. you might be able to get away with 1,500 watts with the big three upgrade. (its a simple upgrade) As for boxes, just go with what Fi says. For my 18 i'm at about 7 ft^3 tuned to around 32 hz. Follow their guidelines more than anyone, they know their subs best.

What sub would be perfect for me?
Yeah everyone else has said it basically. That seems to be a very common combination due to the fact that you can get the AQ for fairly cheap (i'm sure you already know that). Of course the next question is, what are your goals? Sounds like you're going for loud. What are your plans for your electrical system upgrades? (if you don't have any such plans you need to make some, fast.) What vehicle is it going into? What are your plans for a box?

Need a new Head Unit
Hey man, Best Buy had my alpine 9886!! And I got them to match internet pricing at sonicelectronix.com! i mean in my opinion it's worth the twenty minutes you will spend there, even if it is Best BUy

Need a new Head Unit
I have the Alpine 9886 and personally love it. But i would try going to a local store and checking out some of the stuff they have there. listen to 'em, see how they function. For example, i love the Ipod funtion on the 9886, but i know some people that hate it... not sure why but i guess that's their preference

in search of a low end monster
You won't banned from this forum. Stealth is/was obviously a kicker fan boy and he didn't like hearing the facts: There is most likely a better sub out there for your purpose that you can get just as cheap. People aren't banned for mentioning kicker. that's the dumbest thing i've ever heard. Now if you're trying to make xplod's seem sweet..... maybe. Just kidding. This forum isn't prejudice towards one company. Just the intelligent and well experienced people on here will tell you what they've experienced. And the not-so-intelligent ones give bad advice.

SAZ 3000-d Protect Mode
Sorry to hear your troubles! But yeah I shipped the amp last night and let me just say... I don't know how they fit the amp in that shipment box. It took my about an hour to get it in with minimal cushioning. I brought the box to my local UPS pick-up station and the lady looked at me like i was crazy. There was tape everywhere, ha. But yeah i'm excited to hear the problem with the amp when they recieve it and even more excited to get it fixed!!

SAZ 3000-d Protect Mode
Thanks mac! And maybe it's because my entire build has been problems after problems... so much so i made a thread for them Is This Normal? - SSA Car Audio Forum The Sundown issue will be added on tonight. And it's just that i'm sure it's not their fault. Maybe it was dropped too much during shipping or something. And the pure fact that i got a response so quickly and Chris didn't try to accuse me of anything of anysort made me really fall in love with Sundown. They are by far the best company i've ever had to deal with, ever.

Man i love sundown Customer Service. Got an e-mail back from Chris today. That surprises me. I mean, who checks their work e-mail on a sunday? People with awesome customer service he seemed excited to help and gave me clear directions. Man i'm starting to love that company and i haven't even been able to reek the benefits of their products!

Is this true about Alpine decks?
Yeah same thing that everyone else is saying, especially about your gain and bass boost issue. I have that deck and I have NOT experienced your issue. I think it's safe to say that the deck is not to blame

SAZ 3000-d Protect Mode
It was refurbished. I don't know the screenname of Chris on this board so for now i'm just going to follow the instructions on the warranty card. It's pretty obvious that the previous owner of the amp was an idiot. He connected it to a battery wrong which caused the arc, and some of the heat sinks are cooked. You can't tell in the pictures but they are black on the sides. SO now to e-mail db-r!!
-
SAZ 3000-d Protect Mode
Yeah that's correct. With no speaker connected to the amp, it still goes into protect. I'm fairly certain that it must have left db-r not fixed. No dis-respect, but I followed the instructions on how to hook up the amplifier. I even had my little SAZ 3000d owners manual out in my car with me to make sure that nothing was done improperly. I just wished i would have looked over the amp prior to hooking it up because now when i open it and see things improper i'm not sure if its from me or if it came that way. For example, on the + input on the amp there is an arc on the metal. It's pretty obvious. But not only did I not create an arc when i hooked it up, it would have been impossible for me to do so (and anyone to do so for that matter if they followed the instructions). So I guess i'll shoot db-r an e-mail. It's just so disappointing. I'm not taking blame but i'm not blaming them either, I just want the thing to work. I keep on trying it like it's magically going to come to life. Worst case scenario I guess would be that I somehow screwed it up or maybe someone else in my household messed with it without me knowing and it wouldn't be covered under warranty. Then I would have to pay for the repair costs... Anyone have an idea of what the repair cost would be? I know that's a ridiculous question since we don't even know what's wrong with the amp, but a ballpark answer is more of what i'm looking for. Thanks!
