Also I could use some new box recommendations. My truck peaks at 41hz and would like more spl there with the capability to swap tuning down to low 30hz range and pound on the street also. Thanks.

.cant wait to see this..

I saw you at the timmonsville show right? (guy with older yukon and 2 btls) great job on the build either way.

Peaking at 41 youd probably need to tune around 36 Hz or so. With the box sizing and specs, its not set up to be a massively peaky system but a solid daily driver. Modeling it you can see where you get a 1.5 dB boost tuning higher, but not a specific "peak" like youd want for pure SPL. Do you have a multimeter and current clamp? Id be interested in seeing where your peak is right now with the port and subs that close to the rear of the hatch. Im suspecting that things are tuned even a little lower than the "box" would suggest given how it setup. Not a bad thing in my book as it makes it even more of a bottom end monster.

Nice box and build.

Please keep us posted as to how they sound long term.

Thanks,

Scott

Thats exactly what I was thinking as I already have a 36hz port set to the side for this box. I have a multimeter but don't have a current clamp. Thats a nice term "Bottom End Monster" and thats exactly what this thing is. The best I saw on the TL was a 146.7 @ 41hz and it held in the 143db range all the way down to 30hz which is damn good in my book.

There is a show at In Motion in Sumter tomorrow. Check out www.competitiononly.com

Eh, I have to work. Trying to sell that yukon I had at the show, it took hours to get all of the wires/batteries/amps out, but I'm finished and need to put a few panels back. I don't have any equipment in the new tahoe yet, so there's really no point in going. I'm trying to get a good price on 2 250a+ alternators, and get some new wire so everything looks cleaner in the new install.

I measured the rear area today, and it's MUCH easier to get 20ft below the window line, but I think I might go up to the top of the seats instead. I'm thinking I'm going to give the 2 btls I have a little over 20ft, then all I'll have to do is cut out 2 holes for the extra 2 later. Hope to have everything done in about 2 weeks with the way work is- I'm really busy lately, a lot of 8 or 9 am till 11+pm doesn't leave much time :( .

Anyway, 143 @ 30 is very respectable, great job. Hope to hear it the next time I can get up that way, and maybe I can get some time on that t/l of yours?

Are you going to that show tomarrow- incase maybe I can make it there towards the end?

nice score..try what scott said..but do subs up port back..should "feel" a difference.. ;)

So my best score on the TL is a 146.7 @ 41hz w/ the box tuned to 32hz. Today I retuned the box to 36hz and my score got worse. It did a 146.2 @ 41hz. The next thing I tried was to tune it slightly lower at 31hz and it again hit a 146.2 but whats amazing to me is it did a 143.7 @ 30hz. I'm thinking my next step will be to try the subs up port back thing. It didn't work well for my 12s, but hopefully I'll have better luck here with the 18s.

There was a comp today. With no way of taking 1st in my class I played a 30hz & 32hz tone for the hell of it and it did a 145.5 @ 30hz and a 145.7 @ 32hz. The only change was adding a YellowTop to the back. I still have dips to the 11s but before the 2nd batt it dipped to the 9.8-10.0 range. Everyone is saying point the subs up port back so I'm gonna try it. I really want to hit a 150 with this setup.
