Posted July 28, 200718 yr I hate buying amps they cost so muchjust call me mr cheaposo if i was to buy a amp for mj18/15 what would you guys buy? (for car)what should i buywhat could i get by with? would a old Pioneer GM-H100 work? (320 max) any thoughts would be great
July 28, 200718 yr I hate buying amps they cost so muchSolid state power is cheap...You're going to need something more powerful than your Pioneer. There are a ton of amps in the 1kW range that would fit Mach5's recommendation. How much do you have to spend?
July 29, 200718 yr Author im guess it will be about 4 Ohm and i have about 250 can to spend on a ampim going to wait untill i find a used amp( i think that will be my best bet)I think the speakers are the cheaper part of the system
July 29, 200718 yr I think the speakers are the cheaper part of the systemonly if you don't care how they sound, i've put way more $$ into my frontstage than my substage. But then again i think it's more benificial there as well.
July 29, 200718 yr Author my thought is if you dont have good power to run your speakers it wont sound good anywaya lot of ppl dont know what good sound is.... most of the time the question is so dude what did you do in the db drag?Im mr cheap. most of the time I buy my items used unless i can get some killer deals (like mach5)hey i like good sound as well dont get me wrong i have some mb quarts and think they sound great
July 29, 200718 yr nothing wrong with buying used so long as you're still buying good equipment. actually most of what i buy is used, just gotta be careful

July 30, 200718 yr the RF says 180Wrms @4ohms but it has 3 40a fuse!!!? Edited July 30, 200718 yr by JEREMIAH....
July 30, 200718 yr RF has been benched closer to 300-330W/channel. Would be perfect for a MJ-18.The shop carries that amp as well.
July 30, 200718 yr IIRC...a guy on another forum had one and his birth sheet stated close to 900 watts bridged at 4 ohms
July 30, 200718 yr some companies have "birth sheets" that come with there amplifiers...it tells you how much power the amp realistically puts out at what voltage and load
July 31, 200718 yr What's wrong with Class A/B?Absolutely nothing is wrong with class A/BSome people just don't like it cuz it draws like 20% more current
July 31, 200718 yr In my experience amplifier efficiency and better-sounding results tend to go in opposite directions
July 31, 200718 yr 80x2 @ 4ohms, 252x1 @ 4ohmsLots of birthsheets here:http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12684
July 31, 200718 yr Did anyone grab one of those punch150's? That's an awesome price if those numbers are accurate. I wonder if my RL-i8 D4 can handle it.
August 1, 200718 yr ? this is cheaper than the 150? what's up with that http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7043_-...nch+P550.2.html
August 1, 200718 yr Admin The Punch 25 to Life series have a little nicer internals and are very very under ratted.
