October 13, 200717 yr Author original plan was to get another one of those panels and cut it so i can extend the enclosure deeper. but i chose not to out of cost reasons. i hope i can get enough airspace out of this. here's what's behind the panel :here's my objective : i don't know what grille i'll be using but jl's cover is tempting. i need more details

I was just trying to help you get more space. Anyway Have an awesome day. Z
October 14, 200717 yr Author the plastic panel behind the enclosure is large (it goes all the way up to the window and covers the rear pillar) and it's one piece. i don't understand right what panel are you reffering to http://www.teamgrandwagoneer.com/parts/Detailed/1412.html

I am sorry I thought I saw a picture that looked like they were like an explorer side panel that comes apart. once agin you are doing an awesome job and have a great day. Z
October 21, 200717 yr Author thanks right now i've got an idea of going with a fiberglass front. my neighbour's building a new house, so there's plenty of scrap iron bars (4mm diam should be enough) and i thought about reinforceing the front with a couple bars EDIT: screw that idea. i'm going with a solid mdf baffle.
October 22, 200717 yr I think your lieing to us . Your first attempt at glassing is better than some "pro's" work
October 23, 200717 yr Author it's my first enclosure. honest starting work on the mdf parts tomorrow. 1 inch mdf baffle, with a 3/4 inch panel under the sub
October 24, 200717 yr Author unluckiest day yet.as soon as i got the mdf out of the shed it started pouring. the sheet got wet on one surface. i got a circular handsaw from a neighbour and tried it on some scrap wood. worked fine. so i clamped a guide on the mdf sheet and started cutting. the saw decided to cut a curve instead of a straight line. i swear i'm going to buy a table saw even if it's the last mdf panel i ever need to cut.
October 24, 200717 yr Author curved on the small side. probably could have used it and fill the gap with fiberglass but i hate cutting corners and i'm too much of a perfectionist
October 24, 200717 yr Author will do sir. right now i can either buy a new blade for the sucky saw, fork out money for a table saw or try to cut the 2 panels with the jig-saw.
October 25, 200717 yr Wow, just read over the whole build. Looks good man.Kind of creepy how similar our tastes are.I got the exact same mids and tweets. Having similar issues with tweet placement, and motor/basket size of the mli. My last midterm is today, what are you taking in school?
October 25, 200717 yr Author weird similarities. maybe it's the fault of the gear or...i'm studying computer science. exams only in december / january so i guess there still is a diffrence
October 26, 200717 yr Yea man. I'm currently taking 2nd year mechanical engineering. But I digress.Build looks fantastic so far! Looking forward to see where you take it!Mason
October 26, 200717 yr Author i'm not going to take it very far i think i found a plastic panel locally, which means i can get more space by cutting it so this enclosure will either be sold or i'm just going to modify it to get more airspace. but that will only happen next year.managed to cut the baffle today (no pics). jig-saw + flush trim bit = cheap win. it's 31.5 cm's wide and the sub cutout is 28.1 cm in diam, so it's going to be a tight squeeze. not happy with it and an rl-i 8 is not an option right now.
October 29, 200717 yr Author i hope i find the numb nuts that couldn't glass that straightdry fitting everythingtight squeeze i really need to find something clever to reinforce it from the inside. i'm also going to flush mount it.
