Posted July 29, 200718 yr As it says. i am going a few options here. Also I have my graph open with 4 of the 12 inch ssd's. I can get them to graph how I like it but the question is if I go with a flatwound copper coil. How will it change the graph. And if considerably will FI send a copy of the new t/s parameters for me so I can regraph it
July 29, 200718 yr Can you get a flatwound copper coil? My understanding was that you could only get one or the other.Flatwound increases power handling via it's improved surface area. Copper coil adds mass, conducts signal better (often less peaky), and has a little better low end extension.
August 1, 200718 yr ANeonRider... Ive got a $5 that Ill put down on that bet lol... Im not much of a gamblerThe Q has aluminum round wire coils. Not copper or flat. While flat might help a little more with power, other things need to be worked on to handle the extra power as well... hence the BP option. Copper simply would weigh far too much to be useful. Not much of a difference with the specs for the flatwind... copper allows things to drop deeper and does have different specs. But as mentioned above, we go more by what we have tested over the years and know to work well vs what the programs tell you to use. Vehicles transfer function will dominate the pretty response curves from the box programs
