hey. i am having problems deciding what would be the best choice for a system would be...

i know that i want to be pushing no less than 2.5k watts rms. i was thinkin one Fi Btl 18 fully loaded, but everyone is telling me they are way overrated. i have seen multiple videos of btl's tearin cars apart. if i do decide to go with this sub what amp and box should i get. it's going in a 1999 jeep grand cherokee and don't plan on folding the backseats down. please help me! :) thanks

with >2.5k a BTL should serve you fine, but what are you goals of the system? street beater or comp vehicle? music or burps?

Do these people that are knocking the BTL actually have any experience with it?

no, not personally. they are pretty much hating because these are the guys who go spend big money in circuit city getting 4 cvr's and a 400 watt amp and think their chit's the best. it''l be in my daily driven grand cherokee. and i have no clue what box to get, but don't want to spend too much money on it. is it opssible or safe to build one for myself? and i was thinking the new Hifonics BXi2607 amp pushin 2.6k watts rms. good choice or no?

i'm def not a hifonics fan and i think the BTL deserves a better amp.

I think the BL would be better for what you're looking for but that's just me. Get an amp that does ~1500W and it should be loud as hell. but if you plan on upgrading your power and running a serious setup then the BTL will definitely take more power.

probably doesn't help you much, basically it's all about where you want to be. you could run the BL with stock alt and just a batt upgrade (maybe an extra batt too) but if you're going to run a BTL you're going to need that 2.5kw and new HO alt on top of the batteries

ok. i'm new on this whole thing and the BL's would save me some money too so i'll look into that for real.

what amp and box do you recommend? and what output should i expect from two 18 inch BL's. if you haven't noticed i'm tryin to have the loudest system around by far. thanks for your help so far.

and will one extra yellow top be able to handle it?

i don't know enough about the high wattage application to tell you for sure if one yellow top will be sufficient.

if you want to get serious about it and want the loudest system a HO alt should be put on anyway. if you do two 18" BL's with something like two 1500's (sundown) i'm sure you will be plenty loud. That will be sucking a LOT of juice.

Do you have any suggestions about the box type or size i should be lookin into?

it's quite easy to build the box yourself. You start by giving us the largest dimensions you can fit in your jeep

You should bring those people who want to bad mouth the BTL on to SSA. ;)

in the cargo area from the wheelwell to wheelwell there's 44 inches.

from the backhatch to the back of the backseats there's 37 inches.

and from the carpet to the roof there's 29 inches.

what are my options and i don't really want it to be up to my back glass so is it possible not to cover ang of the glass?

yep, just measure how big you want to take up, if you only want it to be 20in high, let us know. Once you get set dimensions turning out a box shouldn't be too hard
