Posted August 14, 200718 yr What do you guys think a 15 inch BTL with cooling option with 2,600-3,000k of power running to it in a 4.5-5.0 cub box tuned to 34-35hz would sound in a cavalier. This set up will have the subwoofer facing upwards and the port firing into the cab of the car? Im also going to Sound deaden the trunk. what do you guys think shes gonna be like and sound??
August 14, 200718 yr should sound good, what amp are you using?? i would do either sub back port back, sub back port to the drivers side, subd up port drivers side, or sub up port back. sub up port foward is going to have some odd phasing issues i think.

August 14, 200718 yr Author so where should i fire the port?? and how much more power can i get $500 is my budget on a amp??
August 14, 200718 yr I'd say raise your budget for the amp. What have you done to the electrical system to support 3kW?
August 14, 200718 yr Author right now its stock, but in the future i plan on getting two yellow tops one for the front and one to put in the trunk and also i high output alternator and depending on my money at that time im going to try and hit that BIG 3...but im going to build the system piece by piece untill i have everything together and i dont know if a cap will help , but as long as it doesnt hurt anything im going to add that on there as well Edited August 14, 200718 yr by CavalierAudio
August 14, 200718 yr big 3 first. alt second. more batts third. the big 3 is the best band for the buck mod you can do. the bigger alt is a better idea because even if your batt is chit the alt will help out a fair amount, and if you have too meny batts for your factory alt to charge within its capabilities failure will haooen quicker.
August 14, 200718 yr ive herd rom a few people that if your electrical sucks the HK4k does not like low voltages. someone said his died at like 10.something...(volts) Edited August 14, 200718 yr by platnum accord
August 14, 200718 yr could try used:rockford 3k or 4kcactus sounds 4kmemphis 4ksundown audio 3kor several others, I would spend a bit more for the benefit a better amp would get you, as jimj said. You electrical upgrades can really make or break the whole system.
August 14, 200718 yr Author as nice as those amps are i cant spend that much in one i wish i could but i just cant...if i upgrade my altnator to a 200+ do the big 3 with 0/1 ga wire upgrade to a yellow top up front and run a wire from the alternator to the trunk and put a yellow top back there and maybe a cap if it doesnt hurt anything.....would a hk4000d work??

I don't know anything about ma audio but I have a SAZ 3000 and it was worth every penny. When putting together a system you don't want to be a cheapskate when it comes to the amp you'll just be wasting your money on a awesome sub. You'll never hear the full potential of the BTL otherwise.
