Well few of you know the tranny went in the buick that i planned on walling off w/ a pair of 3518's. Well i deside to start looking for a 88-98 silverado or siera to do a cut thro on. Well yesterday i ordered my second set of Digital Designs 3518's. The new system plans go as followed.

Head Unit : Panasonic CQ-VD7003U w/ Panasonic CA-DC300U Ipod Adapter and 2GB Ipod Nano

Sound Processors : Audio Control Three.1

Subwoofer : Digital Designs 3518's x4

Subwoofer Amplifier : Sundown Audio SAZ-1500D x4 (each pair strapped @ 1)

Subwoofer Enclosure : 28ft^3 @ 35hz Wall

Mids : Seas CD18RE-MDS H1426-04 x12

Highs : DLS Iridium x4

Mids and Highs Amplifier : Sundown Audio SAX-100.4 x2

Front Battery : Optima Red Top D34/78

Rear Battery : Kinetik HC2400 x4

too many mids, way too many mids. I understand you are looking for output from the fronts and I probably have a bigger Seas boner than anyone on this site but using 12 doesn't make any sense. IMO you should up the size of the midbass and use a dedicated midrange as well.

Thats why i posted, dont have alot of experence diy comps and crazy front stages so im kinda open to opions on that. Just kinda went with a suggestion from a couple people. Just looking for a crazy loud front stage (but still sound good, no ghey eminence)

I almost crapped when I saw that...

What I would do with the mids is this -- use eight of them for midbass and four for midrange!

Or... step up to a single 10" or 12" midbass per door.

Also... may I suggest PowerMaster D3100 batteries? D3100 > Kinetik 2400.

Personally I'd use some converted "subs" for midbass and some pro-audio mids. Most definitely not Eminence, but perhaps some B&C stuff. There are really a ton of options but it comes down to where you are going to fit what, your budget, and how much power you are going to throw at it. From my perspective you should force everything to fit up front.

Also i would prefer to run power master d3100's but i can get a slight discount on the hc2400's localy so i probally will go w/ them just due to the price. I would love to run pm bats and alts. What would you suggest for a crazy loud (but clean sounding) mids and highs set-up? What ever amps (100.2 or 100.4's)

///M5 - Well for locations to mount drivers your looking at, dash, a-pillars, and doors. Budget is around 800 or so, but im a flexable. Also power would be comming from 100.2 and 100.4's.

How much custom work are you willing to do? I imagine a lot since fitting 6 mids in each door isn't trivial.

Lets try a four way setup, shall we?

Why not a 12" SD-1 per door for midbass? They throw down IB with the moderately high Qts and low Fs... cross them over at 60 Hz and they will have ridiculous amounts of output. We would run these up to 100 Hz. Two per door if you can fit them... even two of the 10s if that is more practical... seriously! There is no beating a LARGE midbass driver for realism.

PHL for midrange... try their 8" model from 100 - 2500 Hz. These are some of the best high efficiency lower-midrange drivers available:

You won't need more than one per side... due to the efficiency the rest of the system will be playing keep up.

I like it Guess im going to have to order me some SD-1's b4 stock runs out. Going to have to messure it out and see what size i can fit.

I would do the pair of 10s... the 10s have an F3 of 60Hz IB, and that is as low as you will run them You'll have higher efficiency and more output potential, as well as a 4 ohm load per side for midbass.

I would do the pair of 10s... the 10s have an F3 of 60Hz IB, and that is as low as you will run them You'll have higher efficiency and more output potential, as well as a 4 ohm load per side for midbass.

I made a wtb on ca, i should do the same on biyma also. ED dont have them listed in there store but im sure they could get them.

It's still going to be really hard to get a stable image with dual tweeters and midranges...

Honestly, I'd probably run horns and combine your upper and lower midrange drivers into one set of drivers that could go from 100Hz to the horn's crossover point. At least that way you could have a chance at getting a stable high frequency stage...and you'll distort those DLS tweeters well before you'll drive a HLCD into distortion.
