Ok, Im going to build a fiberglass box.....done a few in the past, but far from an expert (ill have some help). Anyways, Im going to try building around a 12" Fi, and probably a Hifonics BXi2006D = 2000watts @ 1ohm.

I will be mostly running the sub for short periods, 30 minutes or less. There will be rare times when I take a trip and will be running the sub for longer periods.....but most likely not at full blast. Im leaning towards LSQ for the most part, but SPL is important as well. Which sub would you recommend, and which options?

PS. I live in Northern California.....we get 100+ degree days, but normally when it is that hot, i wont run my stereo very loud, as i run the A/C.

To me, if that amp does that power, an optioned up BL or BTL is the answer. Maybe the BTL 12, with cooling and Pchamfer, is a good start, you could add the 3rd magnent and xmxcoil if you plan to really push the sub.

Ohm: dual 1 dual 2

P Chamfer: no yes +$10

Cooling: no yes +$40

Flatwind: no yes +$20

Daily or SPL: Daily SPL

Extreme Lead: no yes +$5

For the BL....can it handle the BXi2006D? Im not sure because I dont understand the options enough to know if it can handle that kind of wattage (1600-2000).

The rest, Daily, No extreme Lead, and no on universal. I have seen a BL 15 handle a lot more power then 2000 watts, but it was for short periods. You should be ok with those options, they increase wattage limits and cooling for your daily needs, and if you are still pushing it too hard, the sub will tell you and just back down on your gains some.

Thank you very much for the info. Personally I want my equipment to last, so I normally have the gain set pretty low, I only RARELY push the sub to show someone what it can produce.

Ill prob stick with the 12" BL and either the Hifonics Bxi1606D or BXi2006D....ill look into the ported box options since I dont have ALOT of room in my trunk....and dont want to use 100% of it for this box (2001 BMW 330i). Going to be interesting since I had a JL 10w7, and it was in a 1.25cuft sealed setup. Almost doubling that will be fun.

With the BL and the 2006, Id look to the D2 flatwind and cooling options. For the 1606 the same would work fine, or you might be able to get away with just the cooling on the standard coil too. 2.2 tuned to 33 is a solid daily setup for that sub and amp combo.

Thanks for all the info. Can you give me some newb info on the dual 1 vs 2? Never seen this option before.

Ill be running the BXi 2006D Hifonics:

BXi 2006D..............2000-Watt Super D-Class

1 x 650-Watts.........................RMS @ 4-Ohms

1 x 1300-Watts.......................RMS @ 2-Ohms

1 x 2000-Watts.......................RMS @ 1-Ohms

With the 2006D it makes max power into 1 Ohm. You would need to order the dual 2 Ohm sub, then wire both coils in parallel. This will net you a 1 Ohm load for the amp. Parallel is simply running positive of one coil to the positive of the other, and negative of one coil to the negative of the other.
