Posted July 3, 200421 yr Well I set off an Audi TT's car alarm with it yesterday. Right now the 8 is fighting through two layers of sound deadened steel to get sound into the cab, but it sounds great. For an 8, it goes incredibly low. The only things it doesn't pick up very well are subsonics, but down to 20 Hz is flat in my car. I'm doing my best to take care of it even though my amp could fry it in a second, but other than worrying about blowing it when I have it turned up the woofer is performing great. SQ-wise, the 8 disappears, which is great. The 8 will be KILLER for a two-way horn setup. That's literally all that would be necessary, a horn and our 8 per side.
July 3, 200421 yr How would they do in medium sized kicks, though?I wouldn't mind going to a 2-way setup if it meant getting rid of those damn door resonances I have right now... SVC 2ohm? Edited July 3, 200421 yr by WeDgE
July 3, 200421 yr This is getting better everytime I look! Just awaiting production. My doors are BARE.
July 5, 200421 yr What what??? From my first post:How would they do in medium sized kicks, though? Edited July 5, 200421 yr by WeDgE
July 5, 200421 yr Author Well these 8's aren't exactly "shallow mount", so a decent sized kick would be around 0.4 cubes hopefully. If it's any smaller than that it could cause problems.
July 5, 200421 yr Dont be discouraged Damian. Nothing a little plasma cutter and some welding equipment cant take care of. B)
July 5, 200421 yr perfect for horns.........if only i knew your 8 incher would extend that high befor i bought my horns lol. but nothing wrong with 3 ways i guess how loud do these suckers get with nominal power. im interested in hese but having something that get LOUD is a must. becuase having something that will ke up with my horns would be kinda nice, instead of dwarfing the power going to them and cranking everything else up.how well is it so far in terms of accuracy? and those OHHH so fast kick drumms.
July 6, 200421 yr Dont be discouraged Damian. Nothing a little plasma cutter and some welding equipment cant take care of. B) Not discouraged one bit. I already cut my doors to fit 8s, I'm sure I can whip up some kicks for them. I'd rather have a 2-way than a 3-way at this point.
July 6, 200421 yr Any clue on the price range? If the price is right, I may start having to recommend these to people. If it exceeds the e8a in performance, it should be an excellent sub. I don't want it falling apart like the elemental subs though, so that would make me buy one of these way before an e8a.
July 8, 200421 yr nick does the 8" use xbl^2 technology? I'm not sure if IApony made a mistake when he said it but he was comparing a few different 8's and said something like "and the SI 8" with its xbl^2 technology? WTF?
July 8, 200421 yr Author When it comes out, it will use motor technology from Adire Audio. So in a word- Yes.
July 8, 200421 yr OT: Nick, is there a good time to call you when you won't be too busy? I have some questions on enclosure design.

WTF?No...I don't believe I said anything about the 8" to my recollection...other than commenting on it being in Nick's hands at one point...It will use similar technology as Nick has said...with some very impressive specs that would seem rather tasty in my own car....IF I had the room to vent them in my doors of course...And I do not believe I have compared the 8's as of yet...seeing as there really is only one or two out there I'd even bother to compare them to...and they have VERY different applications all together... July 8, 200421 yr I've heard a handful of 8s and the SI8s are IMO the best value there is out there. Hopefully I can get my hands on one to hear in my own install to really pick it apart, but from what I've heard so far (which was about 10-15 minutes of listening on a few different types of very demanding material) the SI8 is tonally amazing. There is only one other 8 I've heard that I prefer over this thing, and that 8 isn't very practical so I'm not really considering it in this comparison. The SI8 wont be the loudest 8 out there I dont believe (few more 8s with a bit more displacement), but it gets more than loud enough to hold its own and tonally its beats out just about every other 8" I've heard. Hopefully when they hit production I can get ahold of one and do a full review on it. Money is tight right now so it might be a while, but there will be a review coming, because I will get my hands on one.
July 8, 200421 yr How is the midrange on these puppies? They'd be playing up to 800hz to 1kHz... yeah im thinking the same thing.and how is mounting depth. im thinking of getting these and plopping down in da kickpannels. make it a 2 way set up with my horns.
July 8, 200421 yr I'm with Damian on this one....I'm curious to see how the top end handles in matching up with horns that drop AS LOW AS 1.2k...make me a believer...
