Posted November 10, 200717 yr I have 2 1500d's, only one is in my car right now. I have an AA havoc 18d2 in the car as well. I am looking to add another 18 soon. My question is: will I get more efficency and power with both amps running seperately at 1 ohm a piece or running strapped at 2 ohms? I have factory electrical(110amp alt) for now, will be upgrading it soon as well. I just want to run the 2 18's without destroying anything in my car. Any help would be appreciated.
November 10, 200717 yr Personally, I would run the 2 amps strapped at 2 ohm, you may get more output from them like that but im not completely sure. It makes for a easier install, because you only have to adjust one amp settings for you subs, (the other amp being in slave mode). Im pretty sure its going to put out more power. And as a side note, thats going to be nucking futs!!
November 10, 200717 yr Author Yeah, I'm just an oldschool basshead. All my buddies tell me that I'm too old for that, but I say screw 'em.
November 10, 200717 yr Either way, there shouldn't be much of a noticeable difference, unless you're planning to compete. You won't be able to hear the difference. Strapping will simplify things quite a bit too, as mentioned above. -Trevor
November 11, 200717 yr Author So, slightly less power strapped? What about efficency, i.e load on the elec system?
November 11, 200717 yr You havent upgraded your alternator yet? How many watts are u pushing? cause everyone tells me that i HAVE to upgrade my alternator if im running 2000 watts. Do you notice any problems with running that much on your car with the stock alternator?
November 11, 200717 yr Author My stock alt is 110 amps, so it's no punk. my voltage drops to 12.6 on hard bass notes. I do have a 50 farad cap on the system though, so it helps a little bit. It depends on what size your alt is, I am having a very hard time finding one for mine, because of the way it's set up. Edited November 11, 200717 yr by cx-7heaven

November 12, 200717 yr alright i just checked so if im running 2000 watts on a 130 amp alternator would i do fine with the stock one for now?
November 12, 200717 yr alright i just checked so if im running 2000 watts on a 130 amp alternator would i do fine with the stock one for now?yes, but upgrade your electrical wiring(big 3) and if possible a second battery would help stablize your electrical for 2k.
November 12, 200717 yr So, slightly less power strapped? What about efficency, i.e load on the elec system?Very small difference in efficiency. Not really worth considering for anyone but dedicated SPL competitors fighting for each 0.1 dB.
