Posted November 16, 200717 yr First off, hello, been lurking for awhile finally decided to post.I need some help. I want to add some subwoofers to my car. I am going to start with 1 sub, would like a 15, but possibly a 12. I have searched high and low to find something I truly like. First problem is, I have only heard 13w7's in the same car I have. I don't want to drop that much per speaker and I don't want something everyone else has. I have been leaning towards the 15"BL. Amps, I have access to kenwood KAC-9103D for cheap, but no sure I want that either, because I think I would have to have 2 to push the BL. I seriously doubt they come close to the 1800 watts they claim. No one around here has FI(atleast to my knowledge) so buying them would be a leap of faith...So any suggestions? Here is what I have to work with...Hummer H2would like to keep my 3rd row jump seat, but again nothing is concreteamps?????subs???goal is loud, I want something that pounds. I realize the vehicle is open so that will help. I listen to mostly hip hop, but occasional metal/alternative. It would be a daily driverthanks in advance for an help. November 17, 200717 yr the BL is an awesome sub, used to have 2 of the 18's and they sound good too! Edited November 17, 200717 yr by soundmekanixdan
November 19, 200717 yr Did you have a set spending limit? 1 15" BL powered with a sundown 1500 would be a great combo without really breaking the bank. In the right enclosure I'd take the BL over the W7 all around. Edited November 19, 200717 yr by tejcurrent
November 19, 200717 yr Author Did you have a set spending limit? 1 15" BL powered with a sundown 1500 would be a great combo without really breaking the bank. In the right enclosure I'd take the BL over the W7 all around.no limit per se, but don't wanna spends $5k either. I was thinking of pairing a saz1500d and the BL 15, getting the p chamfer, flatwind, daily options. Here is the deal though, I will admit I am not the most skilled when it comes to audio systems. I can run the wires, do the installs, build sealed boxes. But I have no idea how to tune a box, build a ported box, or what the heck ohms are. I know what ohms are, but not how they matter in terms of speakers and amps.So here is my question if I get the bl 15, should I get the dual 1 or dual 2 option? Then I read about the saz1500 pushing 5700 watts or something strapped at high voltage and another tests showing 1500. The RMS for the bl is 1000 is the 1500 too much?? Ultimately I would like 3-15's and 3 amps, if this is the match made in heaven then it makes my life easier. I amvery open to suggestions though. Thanks Again,Brett Edited November 19, 200717 yr by theogre
November 19, 200717 yr The BL will love 1500 watts... Building a ported box isn't any tougher than building a sealed box IMO... Get WinISD and you can enter the volume of the box, then enter the port opening size, and desired tuning and it will tell you how long to make the the port... it's really not that bad...
