Posted December 3, 200717 yr So what's involved in refurbing an amp? I wouldn't mind snatching up that 1500D, but I don't want to lay down four bills, only to be stuck with a large paperweight just out of the 90 day warranty. Jacob, hows the reliability rate with the refurbs?
December 3, 200717 yr refurb only means it was either using used or slightly cosmetically damaged parts that are in full functional condition in conjuction with new parts either replacing old broken parts on a used amp, or the amp was as i said slightly cosmetically damaged which is most of the time not a big damage, like maybe a scratch here or there. i bet jacob would send a pic of the cosmetic damage if it was important to you.im running a sae-1000D i bought in december but didnt install till late febuary. it going strong........... (knock on wood, jk) because i know all jacobs amps are built to last many many years, honestly if i actually sell a sundown amp, it going to be replaced by another. so right now im selling my sae-1000D proto to be replaced in 4-5 months by his new amp he working on still the 250.2.but if i wasnt going sq, i would pick up a used 1500D or refurbished 1500D knowing that it was built to outlast.Mike-
December 3, 200717 yr Also, I remember Jake saying that he personally tests each and every refurb/used amp before he puts it up for sale.
December 3, 200717 yr Author Okay, I feel good about this. I'm gonna try and grab that 1500D refurb. Thanks guys.
December 3, 200717 yr I sell several types of amps on the forum:1) Used -- Either traded in from the Team or a friend, or I may have had it on display at a show or used it myself. For whatever reason I sometimes end up with an amp that has been used at one point. These are usually sold with a 1-year warranty.2) B-Stock -- These amps have cosmetic damage from the factory, otherwise they are brand new. These are usually sold with a 1-year warranty.3) Refurbished -- Usually returned from a customer for warranty work, I almost always send a brand new replacement to the customer. The refurbished amp is the "old amp" from the customer after it has been repaired and fully tested. These are usually sold with a 90-day warranty.Reliability has been fine on the refurbished. I have them repaired by a very good technician, he tests his work, then I test it again after him.
