Posted December 5, 200717 yr Thinking about a single 15" sub and Fi's are on my list of options...Any major differences in sound quality between the Q and the BL? I like bass on the tighter side that will play loud w/out getting muddy. What are the benefits of a getting a BL w/options? It will be for a daily driver. Usually listen to rap, but i throw some rock in there about 25% of the time, and want a sub sounds good playing both types of music. Thoughts/comments?
December 5, 200717 yr The Q is Fi's sound quality woofer. The BL is the woofer for when you have more power then the Q can handle, but not enough to warrant a BTL.
December 6, 200717 yr What kind of amp you plan on running makes all the difference. Also the amount you plan on putting into your electrical upgrades. The enclosure will make a huge difference as to how it souds.

December 6, 200717 yr Yeah, but the BL has more cooling options, and can be built to handle more. Also, the decision will lie in how loud you want to go. If you like it real loud, you're going to probably need some wattage. And the BL is the man for that. The Q should get pretty loud too though. If you build the right box, either one will sound pretty good though.
December 6, 200717 yr Author Well my budget for the entire system is like $1500....allocating anywhere from 40-50% on a substage and that includes a good box(which i will have to buy b/c i dont have the space or tools to build one myself). However, if electrical upgrades are going to be an arm & leg, i'll just look into something not as powerful. For argument sake, lets say $600 substage, $400 front stage, and the remainder for all wires/connects, electrical upgrades, and sound deadener...does that sound reasonable?
December 6, 200717 yr Your goals should define what you buy, not some subjective response to a thread. Asking this versus that doesn't help you at all, asking how it will perform for what you need could.

December 6, 200717 yr I dont think u can go wrong with a Q if ur going to run around a 1000 watts daily, I just got my new 15Q going on a memphis 1000D and im super impressed. IVe also read on other forums were some people say it doesnt have the lows. Well if it doesnt I better get my hearing and feeling checked. Well i have never had a BL but I love my Q.
