Posted December 19, 200717 yr ok a couple of months ago i had woodlawn cabinetry build an ensclure for the subs that i thought i was going to use. well like a couple of weeks ago it arrived. and i really like it but the subs i had told him i was going to use i no longer want to use. so i figured that if the subs that i wind up using have a smaller displacement then the ones i was going to use then the port would be tuned a little lower and vise versa for bigger. now am i wrong and the ensclure is a 4.5 c^3 tuned to 33hz after displacement, common chambered for 2 12" ICONS. i want to use either 2 eclipse sw7200 or 2 12" aa aresanals powered by a sae1000d if u want to know. December 19, 200717 yr i took a look at the subs in question.my thoughts are the icons are hard to beat.did you see they were on sale?since you already have a box built,i would hold out if you have to.i know what its like getting a build togethercant happen fast enough.but if you must have a pair of the others, you should build a proper box for them.
December 19, 200717 yr I'd much, much rather have the Icons than the Eclipse. Especially considering install is the most important thing and now that you have a custom box for them you really should just use it.
December 19, 200717 yr Author i may and just use a saz1500d on them instead of a 3000d like i was going to do.but was i right about the displacement thing, if it has less displacement then the port would be tuned a little lower Edited December 19, 200717 yr by SouthPole1989

On the other hand if the sub you want to use displaces more space than the Icon, you will lower your tuning.

But Just changing sub displacement(couple hundredths of a cubic foot) would not change the tunning enough to notice.
