Whats up everyone... i was wondering what amp i should run. i can either get a sundown 3000 or a kicker 2500. to my btl 15' However my friend offered me 2 kicker solo x 10's for my btl. what should i do.. either say with the btl or get the 2 kicker solo x 10's?

i would use the BTL and go with the sundown.

well it depends,

Kicker wants you to place each 10 in a 2.25-4.5 cuft box ported with no more than 1500w per.

A lot of space for 2 10s since that is just for each chamber!

1 15 ran in 3-5 cubes. Frequency response for BTL is greater in the low end than the solo X 10 is.

The soloX 10 cannot play below 24hz and is not optimized in a ported enclosure to be loud below 30hz.

the BTL was though...

well as of right now i have a kicker 1500.1 running to my btl dual 1 ohm wired at 2 ohms and it seems to be smelling warm. do u think that this smell is excess glue burning off or is there something i have to worry about. let me know.

if you have been powering that BTL for more than 1-2 weeks, then you are clipping your amp.

Now, it's still possible that you may be killing the BTL as well, i'm not there so i dont know but usually brand new subs will\may have excess glue on them that will burn off but doesnt take long if there is any...

thanks for the reply works great just tested it, after i had adjusted the settings on the amp i just stuck the sub in the trunk and just kept driving. thanks for the advice.. but what should i do about the kicker solo x's?

Well what should i do about the btl 15, and the 2 kicker solo x's?

keep the BTL. unless if you feel that you are not happy with it.

I was wondering what would be louder... 1 btl off a 3000 sundown amp. or 2 solo x's off of 2 kicker 1500's

I doubt your friend would be trading you to "less loud" ;)

Stick with the BTL, it's got more potential. If it isnt loud enough for you, try a different enclosure

If 1 of those 10s needs as much air space as your 15 just get another BTL 15 :drink40:

Really though, I'd stick with the BTL and sundown 3000.

thats a great choice if you can goto a local sound shop and have your system o-scoped so you dont clip
