Posted March 19, 200817 yr Mike, whats the possibility of an RL-p 8? I imagine its been discussed before. Probably not enough demand for 8s to warrant having two lines competing with each other. On another OT note to save topic space...anyone actually running the RL-p 18s in car yet? I loved my 15s to death, 2.75 ported was incredible -- just amazing for a 15 to work so well in that size box.
March 19, 200817 yr I'm pretty sure there's a couple issues with the RL-p8 idea.1. The motor would have a larger diameter than the mounting cutout.2. The 8" basket isn't large enough to handle the 3" (I think) coil of the RL-p.And a couple people have the RL-p18s. One that comes to mind is oxsign. And who knows what the current status of TC is and how that affects Mike.

It's pretty damn good the way it is, lol. I have 2 doing a 140 off of 1200rms. As for the 18", I have one right now in a 4dr blazer (sorry no car), but I plan on putting the 2nd one in here soon.

Also, It spider limitations also, eliminate this from happening as well.2.5" Coil is plenty for a 8" woofer anyways.Nobody really needs a 1000rms 8.
March 20, 200817 yr Admin Tom did a great job of explaining it. If the RL-i 8 can return, it is a very good driver. Proven motor and design, surprising performance. It is a shame because the RL-i 10 is the same driver, just with a little more output, but it has been over looked for the most part.
April 10, 200817 yr As acidburn noted, big issues with mechanical feasibility regarding an 8" cone on the RL-p motor.
