April 11, 200520 yr Yup, I am.Anybody know where I could purchase the Sounsplinter RL-p? I hear good things about them
April 19, 200520 yr Author Nope, no idea.Every time I see those pictures I just cringe ...I want to build a huge em dee effer and have it take up all of the back seat area and hatch ... huge port ... tuned low ... see what it can do ported.
April 19, 200520 yr Author Actually, speaking of that ... anyone (Nick, Ryan?) want to suggest a ported enclosure size + port area + tuning?
April 19, 200520 yr Actually, speaking of that ... anyone (Nick, Ryan?) want to suggest a ported enclosure size + port area + tuning? How much space do you have?
April 19, 200520 yr Author How much space do you have?As much as it'll take ...5, 6, 7, 8 cubes not a problem. I planned for a wall and came up with over 16 or 17 cubes.I do have that single 18" PR here too ... Josh figures it may work ... however, two is ideal / the way to go.
April 19, 200520 yr An enclosure built to Vas, tuned to FS, yields an F3 of Fs. Impressive lows there. Don't know how it would be musically though. Would perform excellent with the transfer function of a vehicle or great for HT.
April 19, 200520 yr Actually, speaking of that ... anyone (Nick, Ryan?) want to suggest a ported enclosure size + port area + tuning?really big, a lot, really low
April 19, 200520 yr I was planning on 12ft^3 tuned @20hz with 100in^2 of port for HT. a couple of plot programs gave that a very nice peak - again, for HT.In car? In that car? If you want to shake everything to chit - I'm going to say 5.5ft tuned 25hz with ~12-15in^2 of port PER cube (66-82.5).Otherwise, something like 3-3.5 tuned ~28-30 with ~40in^port. I have yet to fire up the one in my truck now, when I do, I let You know how musical it is. 5.0 tuned 34hz with 36in^port.-Nick
April 19, 200520 yr Author Yes, I want to shake the car to chit. Be fun having no back seat and some huge pucking enclosure there again.
April 19, 200520 yr If You want loud and looooooooow.... You'll wanna go large. very large. You could get 16ft^3 with a wall? How about a half wall - window line? So that You could still make use of the rear windsheild...Really, if You can, the larger the box with the lower tuning will have MUCH greater output down low. I'm guessing it'll be even moreso since this woofer is a low ended motor. 12ft^3, 120-180 in of port, tuned ~25.
April 20, 200520 yr Author I'll have to grab some measurements.Keeping the box low + wide + long would work best.Be nice to keep it to one sheet of MDF ... as I just happen to have one sitting here. Probably won't happen, though.10-12 cubes would be nice. Unless I can figure something out with this PR ... which is doubtful.
April 21, 200520 yr I wonder how the new D2 will do in about 6 cubes at 22hz<{POST_SNAPBACK}>hey... when did we lose our :offtopic: smiley?? LoL
