Posted May 2, 200817 yr ok is it possible to strap them at .5 nominal strictly for burping??also how many batteries would i need to give them the juice they need?
May 2, 200817 yr I've done it - don't suggest doing so, though, the amps are very touchy at that load.
May 2, 200817 yr Author ohh ok...well then that wont be an option then...and how nuch power would i need to run them at 1 ohm nominal strapped?
May 2, 200817 yr ohh ok...well then that wont be an option then...and how nuch power would i need to run them at 1 ohm nominal strapped? That is 1/2 ohm per amp so I would suggest an HO alternator around 200 amps, a nice primary battery, and a large G31 secondary battery (DEKA Intimidator, Powermaster D3100, Kinetik 2400, etc).
May 2, 200817 yr .5 each or (.17 or so per amp before impedance rise)..5 each they will handle but below that they get very touchy. (meaning that they are seeing .35 ohms or so each before impedance rise).
May 2, 200817 yr Author okay okay well ill do 1 ohm nominal just for burps...i was thinking on buying bout 2 more optima g31s, or perhaps make a 16v system since i need a lot of power to make good numbers in my van lol...thankz Edited May 2, 200817 yr by danracer
May 2, 200817 yr I ran these amps @ 0.5 ohm impedances for burps and daily driving...my SS SPL-X loved it. After impedance rise though, it rose. I never had a problem running them at 0.5 ohm per amp..I burped a 151.3 on a SoundStream SPLX Quad 1 ohm, @ 1/2 gain with 2 1500D's strapped. I know it isn't ideal but the sub loved it.
May 2, 200817 yr Author ohh ok great...now i need a sub that likes that power for burpsi was thinking maybe a new btl or perhaps a dd 9515 but i stillgot time to decide since i need this by finals (local organization) since i have a "match" with a fellow competitor that also has a mini van

Not trying to pick on you, but 1/2 gain doesn't tell too much about the actual output

They are actually brand new.
