Ok back on track...

just got back from starting initial testing of the port.

I'm starting with the box at 4.0cuft net which is the lowest output score and is easier for me to test the port with because once it peaks at 43hz, i'll add another 0.5cuft to the box.. this will lower tuning so i'll have to cut more off the port :)

So, 4.0cuft using a 12" sonotube 48" long did a 143.8 peaking at 41hz.

I cut 3" off the port and it went up to a 144.0db @41hz.

I cut 3 more inches off the port and it went up to a 144.25db still @41hz.

Surprisingly, i have gained almost 0.5db and i'm still peaking at 41hz. It's interesting because that means i need to cut a LOT of port off by the time i make the box 5.5cuft again.

And with it steadily increasing 0.2db every time i cut 3" off.. i still have 42" of port left, hehe.

I'm gonna see how loud it gets in 4.0cuft @43hz this week for sure before i add another 0.5cuft to the box.

i want to break a 150 and higher with this single 15.

that may take another month of testing but i know it's possible.

  • Author

well i've stop testing with the test box.

The previous projected wall build pic i drew up is gonna change slightly :)

I'm gonna be testing a 6th order in someone's car sometime soon to see if i'm smart enough to tune these in time before finals to decide on which type of wall i want to go with.

But as of right now, i'm lookin at 4 completely custom Lvl4 XL 12s modded from the ground up with 500sqin of port in my itty bitty scion tc :)

I'll still structurally support this design with all-thread and steel.

the 12s will be able to put in an environment ranging between 10-14cuft net tunable from 62hz - 29hz so i'm happy so far.

Whatever build i choose to go with probably won't commence until later on in august.

Is it THIS build log again... yep it is!

Just wanted to let everyone know, i'm starting to gather some steel and gutting everything out of the tC that needs to be removed.

I'm gonna be applying Steel flats to the furthest out parts of the vehicle so i can form a frame to work inside of.

Headliner will be replaced so i can attach wall to roof of vehicle for better structural support.

Headliner WILL BE fiberglassed INTO the wall and detachable as well so if i take the wall out.. the headliner doesnt have to come with it...

I have been slowly spreading the word that i may not make it to finals in October to compete at MECA and if i dont.. oh well..

This build is gonna be one u just might wanna check out...

IAK will sure get one of the first dibs on what it sounds like as they aren't too far away from me.

I do not know what i'm running yet... so build progress will be of the build for the time being.

Give me a few days and i'll start gettin some work in progress goin.

Loudest tC on the net... Here we go again!

the steel forms are on both sides of the car right now.

ALL space behind the steel will be filled with 5" of wood. the steel is to help form a shape for the wall.

There will be another layer of 2x4s in front of the steel before the actual wood is laid for the wall.

So.. this will be one helluva thick wall!

What r you trying to do.... Amp me up? lol

Well according to Dizzle, aka Goonz/justin beiber, you can support 10k watts on a stock alt.

  • Author

then somebody's wrong. I was running 21kw on stock alt.

The word support is wrong terminology to use.

If you want facts about people's installs, better ask the source than relayed information :)
