Alright, not sure if jacob remembers but I bought a used 1500D off a guy named Rob E and it started blowing fuses everytime the amp would turn on...........and now, surprisingly im having the same problem. Amp ran just fine for almost a year then all of a sudden it just cut out during a song.

I've been using gold plated 80 amp agu the whole time.....

So anyway when I sent the 1st one in, I got a brand new unit back just hoping I can still send it in for repairs in a couple weeks as I dont have much extra cash for shipping at the moment.

just to clear things up......amp was being ran at 2ohms to 2 old type r 12's sealed with 4 awg wire.....all connections were solid including the ground. I tried 2 more fuses and they both blew as soon as the amp tries to turn on.

I would blow fuses to if I was stuck with Alpine subs.

To be clear... are you blowing the 80-amp AGU or the fuses in the amp ?

Do the internal fuses blow or just the inline fuse? Do you blow fuses if the RCA's are disconnected?

its always the 80 amp inline fuse.....have never blown 1 at the amp.......I can try today with the rca's off......but what will that tell me?

It's quite possible that your fuse holder may be getting loosened up and your 80 amp fuse just won't hold any longer.

Can you get an ANL holder and use a 100 or 150 amp fuse ?

i see this all the time @ the car audio shop

you have more amp that the wire your using can handel / wire gets hot Fuse will & Should Pop...

if it does not your going to have a FIRE on your hands...

look @ the wire neer the fuse holder it will have turned a Dark/black where it use to be a pretty copper

Circuit breakers are more accurate but get trip happy.

It baffles me since it ran fine for almost a year.....not to mention its only running at 2 ohms with alpine 4 gauge wire.....I blasted test tones and ran it pretty hard many times without it even hitting protection or anything....barely even getting warm. When it blew this time I was listening to meatloaf not exactly bass heavy........

you all think an anl fuse will fix my problem? cause it'll probably cost a fair bit retail.....

To be honest - your AGU fuse may be hurting your amp.

I've seen them get damaged without blowing and drop several volts across the fuse... I put a DMM to one that had 12.8 on one side and 7 volts on the other side.

putting a largre fuse will increse the chance of that wire melting alltogether and catching fire...

if the fuse does not pop...

i suggest you get 0Ga wire ASAP.

or @ least keep a fire extinguisher in the car.

Try something before you spend money...

Use a small wire, maybe a speaker wire - and run + / - from the battery without a fuse. Just tap the power / ground terminals (and remote) and see if the amp powers on normally. Don't secure them with the screws, just lightly hold the wire on so you can pull it off if something weird happens.

That would rule out the amp being damaged.

both in the same install is not only overkill, it's wasted voltage/and or/ current.

Let me rephrase that. I prefer either or. Not both at the same time. It is a personal preference and I usually let my customers decide that.

That'll work.

In the future I suggest getting rid of the AGU fuse - those are nothing but problems and may have lead to the low voltage demise of your amp.

dude, theres not going to be any fire, settle and im sure this amp dosent need 1/0 wire at 2 ohms......sure it will help a little, but not solve my problem.

I still think the sundown would be fine (unless it fried from low voltage) if you switched from agu to anl fuses. (and made sure the wire that was going into/leaving the fuse holder is still a shiny copper color.
