need new amp.

quick question....

how would it hold up @ .7 ohms?

with, 230A alt, Yellow top under hood, Kinetik 2400 in back, 1/0 under hood & back, second run there but not hooked up,

It's either .7 or 2.8, two Quad .7 coil subs... TC-3000.

I could do two 1500's @ 1.4 ohm each I guess...

but I rather like the idea of one big amp...

Ideas?

would be a great set up except you will be waiting a while to get a 3000d, they are out of stock until sometime in August for a new one. You might have some luck with http://www.db-r.com however.

That and the coils are rated at 1 ohm impedence, DCR is just .7 ohms.

Also, doing the math in my head there is no way to get 1 ohm, you can only get 1/8 ohm, .5 ohm, 2 ohms, 4 ohms or 8 ohms.

Indeed - 0.7 DCR is a normal 1 ohm load. Totally fine.

Chris @ db-r.com has a few refurbished 3000s (2 I believe).

1.4 (2 ohm) would be perfect for strapping.

But how can you wire 8 1 ohm coild to 1 ohm, 4 1 ohm coils will work out to 1 ohm, double that you either have to have 2 ohms or .5 ohms, or the other combos i listed.

Yes it would, 2 SAZ-1500Ds and there ya go.

yeah, I just talked with him... might go that route.

just wanted to make sure the amp could take it daily...

BUT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO WIRE IT LIKE THAT!!!

Would be a 10x better choice to do 2 1500Ds strapped.

Oh, thought he just had one sub.

For TWO subs you need two 1500s as it will be 0.7 per woofer final load.

Old TC Sounds site...

http://web.archive.org/web/20070224172836/....com/tc3000.htm

can be wired...

1 sub; .35, 1.4, 5.6 ohm

2 subs; .7, 2.8

I know this for a fact, cuz we just put a meter on each sub, wired to the 1.4 diagram...and they read 1.4 ohm. add them series and we got .7 ohm, in parallel netted 2.8.

I just want to know if a SAZ3000 can do .7 daily with my electrical without having problems...

yeah I could/would do two 1500's if I need, but I dont.

You got those backwards, parallel is low resistance, series is high resistance

Honest mistake, atleast you learned something today right?

I really know that, just typing too fast... A very long/stressful day.

but 1 lesson learned also... no Orion 2500d @ .7 ohm.... lol.

o.k.

did some power test research.

getting kinda ancy now...

A SaZ3000 @ 1.4 ohm, 10.75 volts; gets 3200 ish watts.

@ .7 ohm, 14.5 volts; gets 5200 watts, while going into protect.

So I'm I right that guessing 4100 watts on a 12 volt system, @ .7 ohms to be an accurate estimate?

any tests done at that voltage & ohms?

that doesnt sound right... if it is i really need to hit up sundown to see what i can do to get one i thought ~5200 was the 16v number

Either way... it's plenty of power.

TC Sounds had several SAZ-3000Ds and 1500Ds on hand that they used to test their products with in vehicles.

Interesting, huh ? :)
