I was playing my system today which consists of two SAZ-3000d's strapped together @2 ohms. I was messing with some settings in my HU and it was just slammin. All of a sudden it cuts off so I turn the system off and let it sit for a little bit. Turned it back on and it still doesn't play thought I blew the fuse. When I finally get home I check the amp and the slave amp goes into protect. I know that the link RCA sometimes causes problems but now whenever it turns on it immediately goes into protection. I tried disconnecting the link RCA and turn it on and still goes into protect. Right now I disconnected both power and ground to let it sit disconnected for a while. In a couple of hours i'm going to hook it back up and try again. I'm hoping it was just a glitch.

If anyone has some words of wisdom to shed on this they would be much appreciated. I just hope I don't have to send it in for warranty.

I would suspect under-voltage and permanent damage unless you have since upgraded from the 150-amp alternator.

Normally if it is a "regular" protect it'll come right back on. Is the blue light coming on at all or just red only ?

blue light comes on then immediately changes to red. I had no voltage drop at all. I have a volt meter in my dash and it may have gone from 14.4 to maybe 13.9 but that is about it.

With two 3000s that volt gauge is probably wrong if it is reading 13.9 at full output.

We have a 200-amp and a 250-amp alternator on Brandon's Bronco (450-amps total) and we can dip into the high 11s pretty quickly with two 3000s and three D3100s batteries as well.

In any event - if the blue light comes on at all it may not be permanently damaged. Try swapping the power and remote wires with the other amp.

I just hooked it back up the power and ground to the amp and it does the same thing. Blue light comes on then turns to red. So what I do now? The remote wires are paralled together. And the way the amps are mounted I cannot swap power and ground. I checked voltage across both amps and I read the same voltage. What would be the next step?

Un-Strap them and try it.

Next if that doesn't work - try to turn it on with a jumper from the +12v and not with the remote turn-on.

And if that doesn't work... try to take off the bottom cover and see if it comes on - very rare issue can cause it to protect w/ the bottom cover on.

well i unstrapped the amps, disconnected the link RCA, the only thing still connected was the positive speaker terminal. And the amp turned on blue then immediately to red.

Looks like this amp is coming out and being sent in for warranty repair.

i had a hifonics amp that did this before, first one channel would go out but if i turned the system up all the way it kicked back on, then the whole amp would start goin into protect, i tried changin all the wires like he is sayin, and nothin worked so i just had to scrap it,

and i was just at a comp last weekend, i never used cd, but they wanted me to use theres, so i turned my cd level from my radio all the way up, and i guess that turned up the pre out voltage, and once the volume got past 30 of 62 for over 2 secs my amp would go into protect, so i turned down the cd level and its fixed, so probably turn down all the enhancements on your radio, turn the gain on the amp all the way down, then see if it stays on

No I haven't. It's a little difficult for me to just remove the amp. If I were to remove the bottom cover and it works, what would I do next? I can't leave the cover off.

What can happen (very rarely) is something inside may touch the bottom cover. You can use two layers of duct tape on the inside of the cover above components that are close to the bottom cover.

If taking the cover off doesn't work you will have to send it in to me.

Make sure your volt meter is wired correctly. If its the stinger one with 3 wires (black blue and red) if you wire the red and the blue backwards, you voltage wont dip more than 2 tenths.
