Posted September 21, 200816 yr I am seriously considering ordering 2 12" BL's but when I click on the BL link on the page, nothing appears. Is anybody else getting this? Also I know this has been discussed before but I am still debating between 2 Fi BL's or 2 AA Havocs. Im going to be running them off the Sundown 1500d. Do you think its enough power and which would you guys perfer ? I am looking for something with good SQ and also that deep HARD hitting lower bass. Any response would be great. ThanksIf this helps I listen to a lot of hip hop/rap and some rock. I havent decided between a sealed of ported box yet but I am thing I am going to have to put them in a sealed box due to space constrictions. Its going a 4 door honda accord and I need to have space in the trunk left over for everyday use. Edited September 21, 200816 yr by bphnn
September 21, 200816 yr IIRC they don't have magnets right now so they're not offering them for sale. They'll be back as soon as they have the parts necessary to make them.
September 21, 200816 yr if you are gonna do sealed id get 2 q's if you go ported with the power you have id do a single loaded bl
September 21, 200816 yr Author how would the BL's sound a sealed box or are they meant for spl and ported boxes ? Thanks money I'll have to look into your offer I'll pm you when i decide what Im going for.Anybody have any opinions on the Havocs ?
September 22, 200816 yr Do not seal the BL's.Read this link for info on what size box to put the BL in.http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=7154
September 22, 200816 yr BLs dont like sealed... Qs for sealed. With a pair of them off of a SAZ1500, the standard Q12s would work really well. Thanks,Scott
September 22, 200816 yr since i can't pull up the info on the fi site, how would an amp rated at a solid 1krms @2 ohms/12.5 volt work on a loaded BL12, dual .7's in series? the amp is an MTX 81000d. I'm looking to get out of my 10 inch Rockford T2 even though it's been an impressive little sub, and get into something with a bit more cone area rather then just huge surround and i have seen someone selling them. I am thinking one sub should run nicely off that amp, opinions? I wanted the TC OEM 10's that are FS on here now, but they are both 4 ohm SVC and aren't that efficient so i would really need to change amps to benefit from the swap
September 22, 200816 yr Should work fine on that. While it probably wont push things to its limits thermally (or mechanically if set up correct) it should lead a happy life in the proper box. Thanks,Scott
September 23, 200816 yr Author So your saying (2) 12" Fi Q's in a sealed enclosure off a saz-1500d would be pretty good ? I am still debating between the Q's or the BL's let me know which you would recommend for me. I listen to mainly rap/hip-hop and its going to be inside the trunk of a honda accord so thiers not too much room back thier.
September 23, 200816 yr The low end of the Havocs is a little bit "stronger" and has a more prominent "boom" accompanying it.You can feel it more and it just feels like it has a bit more power with it. The Q has a slightly better upper end (above 50 htz) but that doesn't matter because it's not like you'll be running 50 htz and above to your sub anyway.I've listened plenty to a 15 Q and 15 Havoc...I'd recommend something like a RF T20001bd to power 2 Havocs, Q's, or BL's... September 23, 200816 yr Not saying the Q didn't!!! It's an amazing driver as well; all I was saying was that the Havoc just had a little bit more to it.Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the Q as well.
September 23, 200816 yr Most people assume that they are the same... while they do have similar goals, they do have two distinct characteristics to them. Cant say which is "better" as it is really relative to the application and personal taste. I know dealers are eating up the Havocs as they have found them to be a W7 alternative with better margins and performance (their words not mine ) No such info on the Qs as they are a direct only item. Although dozens of first place trophies and 9.5-10 performance scores in IASACA SQ finals cant hurt the cause either. Thanks,Scott
