Posted October 5, 200816 yr Hi, I have a 12" Alpine type s in a vented Bassworks box( pretty big ) driven by a Pioneer GM-7100M (RMS Power at 2 Ohms = 360 W x 1 RMS Power at 4 Ohms = 250 W x 1). head unit : pinoeer DEH-P7700MPI'm listening to Punk Rock, Death Metal, Metal, Hard-rock and a little bit of Dr. D.R.E amd Cypress Hill. I find my bass not tight enough and not fast enought to hadle my music preferences.Do you think that two 8" subwoofer in a sealed box will do the job?Should I use two SVC 4" sub to get the 360w at 2 ohms of my ampWhat brand and model of subs should I go for?Sry for my english
October 5, 200816 yr An 18 can do what you need, the problem is a combination of your box and the fact that the Type S drivers aren't really all that.My comment on the 18 is that your issue has Nothing to do with cone size and everything to do with other factors.
October 5, 200816 yr Author I tough i have to get a smaller subwoofer.so a 18" sub with a better amp?I also have 5x7 in front doors and 6x9 on rear deckwill it sound good with a 18" sub?
October 5, 200816 yr your not understanding. hes not telling you that you need an 18... hes telling you that your problem is NOT THE SIZE OF YOUR SUB.... so the IDEA of needing to go to an 8 inch sub to get "tight" bass is NOT correct... the box you have does NOT match your goals... and the TYPE of subs you have leaves much to be desired.
October 5, 200816 yr ok thanksSo what do I need the get a nice Bass for my music preferenceWhy not try the cheapest option first like stated in the first reply?? There is a very good chance you will be happy with it and it wont cost much.a sealed box may be better for you.
October 6, 200816 yr Author here are my three options1. I keep my type s and put it in a sealed box ( what size? )2. I buy a CDTaudio EF-100 - 10'' - 250wrms - svc 4ohm in a sealed box and sell my type s and the ported box3. I buy 2 CDTaudio EF-8CF - 8'' - 200wrms - svc 4ohm in a sealed box and use my 360rms at 2ohms from my amp and sell my type s and the ported boxWhat would you do????Thanks again
October 6, 200816 yr Find an RE SR10 dual 4ohm, they are floating around for about 100 bucks or so. Sound nice, get decently loud, perform well in small sealed enclosure
October 6, 200816 yr Admin There is a SoundSplinter RL-i 10 that is for sale in the classifieds section here. It is still brand new and I think it would be a very good choice.
