Natural hiss?

Single-ended output stages have a low-level hum that doesn't go up as the volume increases...but where that's an SS output stage, I wouldn't expect there to be much of a hiss. Especially not on (relatively) low efficiency speakers. I have a slight hum with the Klipsch's, but then again, those are several times more efficient and even then I can't hear anything more than a foot away or so.

I bet it's due to them using really high gain tubes - 12AX7s are known for being "hot". Dropping in a pair of GE 5751's would drop the preamp stage's gain by 30%, but you're there and I'm here :)

Now that you mention it, it'll be something I try when it's finally my turn with it...

ok...now you remeber that the boy's cabinets are dayton 7" alum mids and hifi 1" textile dome tweeter...dunno if your thinking a factory bookshelf system or not...

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

"Bookshelf" and "high efficiency" generally are mutually exclusive terms :)

ok :(

ok

me: Mom, i want to order my yellow top tonight. Jegs has it for $183 shipped

Mom: i cant beleive you are spending all of that money on a battery, why cant you just get a $50 walmart battery?

Me: Because this is deepcycle, its sealed, and it isnt phased by vibration

Her: my battery works just fine and so does the one you have

Me: But they dont put out near the cranking amps and they dont have near the reserve capasity and they arent sealed or as vibration resistant.

Her: i dont see how that battery is any different than any other

Me: ok here ill draw you two diagrams on how each battery works, conventional deep cycle and Optima deep cycle. *draws picture on napkin in texas road house*

Her: That doesnt make any sence.

You got pwnt on that price - I bought mine at Autozone locally for $30 less...:)

And your Walmart battery will put out more CCA than the YT, instantaneous current capacity is not why you buy a deep cycle :)

Boy what a fun day today has been.

found out the friend who got in the wreck yesterday morning, is most likely not going to make it, and my childhood friend'sm father died like a weekago.................nobody told me about him though till today.

J

sorry to hear that.

$50 walmart does like 500cca

yellow top D34 does 650 if i rememeber correctly.

and the RC on it is like 120min, walmart is like 70min

and autozone here doesnt sell optima, discount autoparts wants 205 after taxes.

the yellow top exceeds my current battery in every single spec including instantanious current and absolutely pwnz it in RC

Should have told your mom that with the Yellow Top, you're far less likely to get stranded because the battery couldn't start the truck.

i dont think she would understand that either.

She also couldnt understand why i wanted an MD2 for SPL.

kickers componets better than the type s's?

co-ax, sorry

What are you w00t'ing about, good sir?

I almost always woot to announce my presence.

...and about the "natural hiss" mentioned above..... My setup has 60hz hum like a mofo.....probably because it's plugged into a $0.50 power strip :P

or because it's solid state and naturally inferior?

:D

If I need a jigsaw I commandeer my dad's Festool one...absolutely love that thing.

Though the Festool circular saw is really what spoils me, it has a 4' non-slip metal guide that locks into the bottom of the saw, so you can't screw up a straight line :)
