What do you guys think about the Toyota Yuris?

I'm seriously thinking about selling my truck, putting a $6-7000 down payment, and going in and seeing if they can give me an 18month loan with a decent APR.

Same engine as my dad's chit box (aka xB) which has held up great so far (32mpg with my dads foot, kinda quick, and still running strong after putting 26,000 miles on it in one year)

Imagine a group of girls you know sitting around and talking, what you won't hear is "oh that Chris, I really love his car." If you buy one.

I dont buy cars to pick up girls. But I completely support using your car to pick up girls. It weeds out the sluts/whores/gold diggers for the rest of us that dont need a nice car to pick up a girl.

I was actually trying to be nice and use the third person more than anything. I just think little econoboxes are teh dumb. People buy them because they are cheap, but for the same money over time you could drive a 1999 Audi A6 or other similar vehicle that would be a lot nicer.

Two other sides of the girl comment above is that no-one really would/should be proud of that car. It is a cheap, teeny, barely form of transportation. I don't even understand why someone would buy one if the price of gas was $6. The other side is not picking up the girl, but making sure once you have one she can be proud of you. The picking up is easy...

And no, I haven't driven one but my Uncle's brother has an Echo which I have. The Yaris is sort of a refined Echo, but holy crap was the Echo a POS. He loaned it to me the last time I was near DC to drive around.

I used Uncle's brother instead of Uncle since you guys know of his car collection and I find it amusing he drives AMG's & M's and his brother drives an Echo.

When you find me a '99 A6 with a warranty in perect condition, getting 40mpg, I will buy it. Untill then, I stand by not needing nice things to get OR keep a girl.

Your girl should be proud of you, not how nice your car/home/anything is.

I drove one for a week back when they first came out when my old car was stolen, I couldn't drive it for more than 20 min before my knee cramped up from having to drive with my knees around the steering wheel.

And how is a Neon not an econobox? It was the 4cyl FWD sedan which preceded the extreme econobox era.

But, a Neon is one of the most popular FWD low budget weekend race vehicles out there, was when it was released and continues today.

But, if I had 20G's to spend, I wouldn't spend it on a new car. Warranty for me is a no-argument, I hate other people working on my vehicles. I do my own work, and buy cars that allow me to do so.

I need about 30G's... to build my own shop and supply it with tools. I would be working on it every day if I didn't have to drive 4 pucking hours to do so. Sooo... I get 2 days a month, and whatever time I take for holidays.

IMO the Yaris looks much better than the xB and xA. Better than most econoboxes out there. At least in pictures. I'm not 100% intent on buying one yet. Just thinking about it.

Down here it's a honda. Everyone who is a "racer" has a honda. Honda = Teh Suck.
