  • Chill- Lemme break it down as simple as I can on some of us here. The IHoP is like a big dysfunctional family. -M5 would be the uncle everyone respects and takes advice from. We may not like how he p

So yea, got done watching some TV after supper so I was on my way to a friends house to re-glue her rear-view mirror on her car for her... Halfway there I see a guy in a Maroon '69 Chevelle stranded, so I stop and help him out for an hour and a half. Turns out the HEI unit is screwed, take him home so he can get his truck and tow it.

Get to the friends house to glue the mirror on, get it to the part where I need to apply the adhesive to the metal tab, turns out there is no adhesive in the tube, packaged empty.

fudge.

So we went to wal-mart to get some more, she kinda needs the mirror since she isn't that good of a driver anyways. We get to the automotive section and guess what they are out of, of course with the high heat everyone else's mirror has fallen off as well so they don't have anymore.

So then I get home and get a beer and toss a football around with the roomie and talk about random chit.

So yea, from 9-12pm I did a lot of chit but didn't get chit accomplished.

But anyways, didn't know the guy in the Chevelle to start with, pretty cool guy, senior in Mech Eng.

*I'm the guy that'll stop if it looks like the person needs help, I tend to believe what goes around comes around*

the new roommates seem to be uber cool. and since they're both mechanical engineers they said they could probably make any stuff i needed for the fiero. (bushings and crap like that) they have access to all the goody machines on campus.

niiiiice

ok i need with rli8 experience to convince me wether to port or seal this bishes with some space constraints

Port it.

Then when you wow everyone at how loud and awesome it sounds seal it back up.

I didnt even make a "SQ" enclosure for mine and it sounded awesome ported.

Ive heard them sealed as well and they sound great like that as well.

I haven't done a "standard" port yet, but the T-Box I built sounds awesome. It's perfect for a LSQ installation. I'm going to a sealed pair of RL-i8s soon for straight SQ though. Both enclosure types sound great with the RL-i8.

what size and tunings have you used?

I believe it was .5ft^3 tuned to 47hz. I used industrial plastic wrap tubes for ports :P

The sealed was .5ft^3 too if im not mistaken

damn , we are having some serious storms around here today :(

Well, for the next two weeks or so I'm a hospitality and tourism management major...

I hope the IT department processes my paperwork really soon...

Have to stop by a few professor's offices today and pray they can force add me into the classes I need, hopefully by tomorrow afternoon.

isn't 47 a lil high?

and why are you guys wining about 9 o-clock classes? I have a 9:30 and 10:00 and couldn't be happier. the 8 o-clocks are no fun though

how was output in the .5ft3 sealed and how much power?

and how was the low end in the ported

beat i would like to port them but i dont think space will permit me two with where i want to tune them and my desired port area

Bah, you're hanging them from the rear deck? You could design a labyrinth style port that wraps around the box I bet :P

Tom's had good output sealed. I think he had .8cu.ft. ? He has something like 400-500w per sub? He'll have to clarify that. He had smaller boxes before and it killed the low-end. In your case, you might just want to whip together a .5 box and try one in the car..... see how it is. Then go from there with a finnished product.

The RLi 8s are the one sub I would want to do a bit of testing on. They are capable of many things but it's a fine line between boomy, tight, and just plain not enough bass.
