Pondering my new home music "system"

I would like to have my music and sound card on one pc and be able to control it via ethernet from other pc's. Is there any sort of remote desktop software that you guys know of that won't require Winsuck Server edition?

Also curious as to the length limitations of a touchscreen. As having a few of those scattered around the house would make rather cool remotes.

I shot some pistol today, and have a basement audio room to work on for a friend. Budget is about 5k, and it is going to be a projector setup, everything else is up to me.

going 5.1 surround sound, haven't figured much past that yet.

Pretty average day in fantasy football today...going to be a close finish.
