The Texas Legislature passed a new law (Senate Bill 1231), which provides that, except for several specific instances of good cause, undergraduate students enrolling as first-time freshmen at a Texas public institution of higher education in fall 2007 or later will be limited to a total of six dropped courses during their entire undergraduate career.

Sucks for those kids

Actually good for Texas.

I will drive in to see you Sean and bring as much as I can. I'm sure we can twist Scott's arm to come to.

And we'll need beer.

:)

By kegger I didn't mean some American crap, but some local micro's. A few 5 gal kegs and some growlers ought to do the job.

sounds like a good time frame. when does the tour go through MN?

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

the schedule for the 2008 tour is:

June 7 - Little Rock, AR

June 8 - Springfield, MO

June 9 - Topeka, KS

June 10 - Lincoln, NE

June 11 - Ames, IA

June 12 - Rochester, MN

June 13-14 - Madison, WI

dude, springfield, mo is like 5 hours from here. adn i've got a sister-in-law that lives there. to bad i wouldn't have more time off, i'd meet you there and drive up with the tour to rochester. and madison is like 7 hours due north.

hmm, looks like i'm scheduling vaction for the week of the 8-14th.

if i'm not shot before then, or fired. i had a customer threaten my life late last week. wouldn't bug me much except i was on the israelite farm which is 100% black and extremely racist. white folks aren't even allowed there after dark, they tend to ignore local laws and i'm knocking on doors in the evening telling people they owe me money, lol. so when one of them tells me if i come back, i won't make it home, i tend to take that a bit more seriously. of course, then i look at them and say [terminator voice] i'll be back [/vocie] and then the boss makes me file a police report and get one of them arrested for assault, yeah, business is about to pick up, lol. i expect today to be a bit o fun!!

$464 for a round trip.... fudge that

Holy hell, from where?

I'm guessing Houston to Minneapolis

EDIT: Probably Houston International, going to Hobby is liable to get you shot if you aren't careful...

Rochester is 1.5hr South of me. I live out by Lake Minnetonka, more or less a Western suburb of Mpls. A whopping 10 minutes from downtown.

Looks like I'm going to have to put myself on a diet and exercise program again. Clothes are starting to get tighter and I'll be damned if I shoot back up to 230+ again. Looks like I'll be going to the gym after work from now on. Sad thing is, its hard to eat healthy when you can't cook for yourself and fast food is the only option many times

Six dropped courses? Is that after an add/drop period or any time during the semester?

We have about a two-week add/drop time in which you can add or drop as many as you want, but after that closes you only get 6 credits you can withdraw from, so that's basically two classes over four years.

6 seems way too high.

yeah well, i look at the names in here and knowing what a few of you do for a living and/or what you are in school for, and yeah, my GED having ass feels pretty damn dumb. but thanks anyway.

It all basically means jack shit.

Real life is where it counts. A true education and a strong man are made when you keep on going when everyone else would have given up.

It is the same here. You can withdraw from two classes your entire four year career ... withdraw defined as you missed the add/drop date.

Austin Area Interreligious Ministries, the city's largest interfaith organization, announced Thursday that its annual Thanksgiving celebration Sunday had to be moved because Hyde Park Baptist Church objected to non-Christians worshipping on its property.

The group learned Wednesday that the rental space at the church-owned Quarries property in North Austin was no longer available because Hyde Park leaders had discovered that non-Christians, Muslims in particular, would be practicing their faith there. The event, now in its 23rd year, invites Jews, Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Bahais and others to worship together.

Southern Baptists, bunch of kooks

anything cheaper sean?

Fast food is NOT ever an option. Hell I won't even eat at chain restaurants.

*yes there are exceptions but I shoot for less than one time a month

What other choices do I have? for heating I have a microwave and I share half of a small refrigerator, so I don't have much to go by there
