If it all goes to the current plan (this plan has gone through the dept head too!) in a year and a half they will be paying me ~46k/year to run the shop, get paid good money to build shit and go to school at the same time.

LOL, it might help to know wtf the towel rack does to understand the latch.

It is mounted vertically on the wall, and it folds down for putting towels on it and while in use, then folds up against the wall when not in use to get out of the way. I also did custom hinges with built in stops at 90* on it, but they aren't anything special, just a little bit of work with a plasma cutter and two bolts.
